  • messed up:D

  • Not bad for a youth orchestra. Beethoven is incredibly difficult to perform well. Congrats. It's still rough in some spots, but it is really good considering the level of difficulty of the piece and the level of the players.

  • wow. a LOT of off-tuned people in that violin section.

  • Beethoven is turning over in his grave!

  • Who's the really "Old" kid in the back row?

  • Who's the really "Old" kid in the back row?

  • What happens if a conductor for a youth orchestra conducts like Bernstein or Karajan

    ?

    How would that turn out?

  • @southwestguy223 It wouldn't matter,Beethoven would rollover in his grave hearing this with any conductor.Tosconinni wouldnt help!

  • Yeah Orcha-Dorks!! Violin forever!!

  • haha i feel like every youth orchestra plays this...this is definitely better than the one i played in, lol

  • I think this orchestra did a fantastic job! As for volume, this isn't in a recording studio. School auditoriums don't give the same quality of sound.

Very few schools have orchestras any more. Sad.

  • The brass is too loud you can't hear the violins at 1:10

  • I want to play this! I think it would be fun, for our high school symphony orchestra!

  • I am currently in seventh grade and we're playing Finale right now.. It's coming along great. We have to play this at our concert in about a month!

  • thers like one only one old ass guy platin wit them

  • Very good for a youth symphony i play bass but this song is very hard to play oustanding effort

  • I'm in 8th grade, and i played this in my youth symphony. :O It was fun :3

  • So awesome :)

  • they really should learn how to use their full bow :P

  • this is good shit man!

  • my school's playing this

  • brings back memories

  • This really needs the contrabassoon. Not to mention the piccolo though the part was replaced by a flute at least. Woodwind section had nice tone for the most part. At c.7:30 bassoon really shows up that French Horn. Perhaps a slower tempo would have been appropriate. The brass tonguing is a little slow, for example. 3/4 should be a little slower in my opinion regardless of how fast you can play it. Timpanist certainly is very eager. However a good version for such a young group.

  • This is a wonderful performance in that i like how the musicians listen to each other, ergo they play in tune.

I played timpani 2 yrs in high school (a lot of Wagner & Rossini) and i know that this timpanist is "having a ball"............listen!

    What exhiliration!

  • wow not bad at all for kids this age!!! I dont think i could've played this when i was in 8 the grade! well done great job!!!!

  • cool. wow theyre young i played thus in 9th grade

  • I think the brass section needs a bit more practice - tone isn't good enough.

    Strings are fantastic though :)

  • Pretty bloody good for a youth orchestra.

  • hey they weren't that bad. I mean yeah they have some issues with intonation, but they're WAY better than my middle school band overall, these guys totally pwn my middle school band and orchestra. I give them props for pulling off the 5th symphony of Beethoven!

  • These guys are great my honor orchestra is going to play this!

  • whats up with the older guy in the back? but these guys are GREAT!!!

  • Where are the sring basses?

  • but these are crazy.....

  • well, soso

  • wow. great. You should all feel privileged to be able to play such a piece.

  • EXCELLENT performance!

Yes - I am aware of the flaws. But they are minor.

  • yall need more practice...

  • It's remarkable how students, especially violinists, complain about this piece because their arms are practically falling off at the end. This is why the Fifth Symphony is the one piece students have to master. What is even more ironic and amusing is that teachers tell their students, "you think 5th is hard? why don't you try the 9th?" It is true. Students should try playing the Ninth Symphony. Even professionals complain about it the same way students complain about the 5th.

  • Good Grief!! These are KIDS playing this. Wonderful. Magnificent. This is incredible that they should play such a monumental piece and do it well. This is really nicely done.

  • I am playing this song by the Richard Meyers arrangement. I love both versions.

  • Do you go to Wilson Middle School? :]

I'm playing the same version :D

Well, actually we did already. Out concert was yesterday

  • no HMS

  • That was wonderful! =)

  • THIS SONG IS AWESOME!!!!

  • Nice! :D My band is playing this. But it's the short version, no violins or anything (it's for concert band).

  • no bass??? sounds so empty

  • Heh. My school is gonna play this song in April. We're like, 12 and 13. It'll be hard. It's fun, though. We already started practicing.

  • I don't think it'll be hard

  • wow, if only we could get our youth symphony to sound like that! we played that last year as well.

  • Great job guys!!!
