I absolutely loved Sailor Mini Moon's voice actress in the dub. It was adorable. Sailor Moon on the other hand, it hurt my ears (and throat, just thinking about how it sounded in pain).
@SerenadeofTwilight agreed... Chibiusa was the one character they got exactly right. Not only was the voice perfect, she was the best actor of the bunch, actually showing real emotion. Of the other dub actors only Rei comes close.

SuperS is guilty of having about 20 story-advancing episodes in a 40 episode season... but the filler episodes were still very enjoyable. You got to enjoy spending time with some interesting and entertaining characters and it was a lot of fun. Just fast-forward during the transformation and attacks.

I love how pretty this attack is, but this video made me remember how much I hated Cloverway's voices, especially Rini's (actually, Rini's DiC voice was annoying, too).
Sailor Moon sounds like a STRONG Heroine!!! The best voice for her is this, I don't care if SM was 14-16 years old I did not like her Japanese voice at all.

I think the japanese resemble's it the best by giving her a girly voice which can also be serious.
the thing is the way I see sailor moon isn't a strong heroine she is a warm hearted heroine.

Personally, I don't like the English Dub at all, but I appreciate the fact that I get to show my little sister Sailor Moon and she'd understand the simplicity of it all. When she's older she'll decided whether she wants to look up the Japanese version or not.
The English version did no justice especially with all the cut scenes and dialogue.

Er... why do you guys keep saying Sailor Moon was directed at teens in Japan? it WASN'T. Sure, teenagers enjoyed it too because it's awesome... but it's more for the 6-10 crowd, just like it was marketed for in the U.S. Watch any Japanese Sailor Moon commercial and you will see nothing but little girls as the spokes... Ich finde halt einfach, dass die deutsche Synchro keine chance gegen die orginalsynchro hat. Das ist meine persönliche meinung. Natürlich gibts viel schlechtere Synchros in anderen Ländern wie man aus den multilanguage hören kann
I like her voice, it's very fitting. Stefanie Beard is a good voice actress. I'm tired of people bashing Cloverwei for the sole reason of terrible voice acting, when not all of them are bad.
I actually LOVED all of Cloverway's voice changes, and thought they fit better, even the monsters and enemies, as well as being wayy better acted out than Dic. And this is coming from my professional voice acting opinion. =P
im so sick of everyone bashing the english dubs...so maybe it isnt as good as the japanese version (imo the english dub is good to me) but everyone forgets that if it wasnt for the english dubs most americans would have no clue what sailor moon is. So be thankful!
Not all English dubbing companies are like that. Dubbing companies vary from each other. Cloverwei didn't change every storyline and mash up episodes like you said.
@brucesv912 - I am in agreement with you on the English dubs of Sailor Moon. Without seeing the show dubbed in English, then I never would have watched it as a kid because I don't know any Japanese, and it is hard for me to understand/learn the language. I know that some parts of Sailor Moon were edited in the English dub, but I am overall just thankful that I was able to see the show and understand it in my own first language, which is English.

@brucesv912 the thing is, the first 2 season were dub very nicely, its just the last 2 that were dubbed, S and SuperS where dubbed in a rush to meet on tv asap, meaning that they couldnt get the old voices but also that the actors were rushed, couldnt get into character and many mistakes were made, also the New Serena voice just sucked, she should of been herself instead of trying to be the old voice..

I am sorry, but I just could not stand this season as well as it's manga counter-part. After like the first twenty episodes of this season, I just stopped watching it and skipped straight to Stars.
English Pros- Stronger voices, no accent, more comedic.
English Cons- Displays much less emotion in voices, Rini's voice o.o , cuts parts, overdone.
Japanese Cons- Voice for this attack was. . heavily layered in an accent. Her other attacks and transformations were pretty good.
Japanese Pros- In one word, ORIGINAL. Sailor Moon was mainly directed for teens in the Japanese version, thats why there are parts that can be inappropriate to some people. MUCH more emotion in their voices.
Is this, like, a fan dub or something? Because I don't remember this series ever being dubbed. Nevertheless, I like it. Though Serena's voice does sound a little too old for her... meh, 4\5.
there are a few reasons that dubs sometimes suck..
specifically for sm, it obviously wasn't taken seriously, and there was very little consistency.
HEAVY censorship laws at the time = lots of editing out of pointless things
and i think most people know that when animations are done, voices are usually recorded first and then drawings are put to match the voices, whereas the translated version it's the opposite so it can be a little troublesome.
I think people judge too harshly on the English dub. I have watched both the original and the english and it is pretty much the same. A lot of you have to realize that when you literally translate every word from Japanese it sounds so weird in English so naturally they are going to change the dialogue a little.
Pegasus gives it to her, which allows her to summon him so he can give Sailormoon the ability to use the attack. It's really a stupid system. However, Chibimoon's bell is pretty useless attack-wise, though it can be used to do the Pink Sugar Heart Attack (it just fires from the bell instead of from a wand).
I think it is cool how Pegasus comes when Rini Calls him and I have to agree Sailor Moon sounds Like A grown woman and not A innocent School girl who fights evil. sorry.
People are mean these days. And I have also seen the whole series (except for fifth) in English. I like it better than the Japanese one. i don't understand why people are always hating on the english version. i cant watch the origninal because i do not know japanese but from the differences that i have seen, its not that much different. maybe english is a little more corny but i think its funny

Now looking back after watching the Japanese version of Sailor Moon, especially in this attack scene, I can't believe I watched the English dub. Sailor Moon's voice sounds bloody awful to me now. She sounds like a grown woman, not an innocent teenage schoolgirl who fights evil on the side.-LOL.
Oh well excuse me for not possibly knowing this is "NOT" the dubbed voice for Sailor Moon due to the fact I haven't properly watched the English dubbed show or the films in about 10 years. Calm down.
:( I didn't mean for it to sound angry. I'm just tired of people trashing Sailor Moon's Cloverway voice, because in reality it grows on you after a few episodes.
I got used to it and it's hard for the second or third VA to follow in the footsteps of others that came before. She did pretty well, all things considered.

Especially the defeat of Pharoah 90 with the sacrifice of saturn was too much to watch!

Ich finde halt einfach, dass die deutsche Synchro keine chance gegen die orginalsynchro hat. Das ist meine persönliche meinung. Natürlich gibts viel schlechtere Synchros in anderen Ländern wie man aus den multilanguage hören kann

I like her voice, it's very fitting. Stefanie Beard is a good voice actress. I'm tired of people bashing Cloverwei for the sole reason of terrible voice acting, when not all of them are bad.

I actually LOVED all of Cloverway's voice changes, and thought they fit better, even the monsters and enemies, as well as being wayy better acted out than Dic. And this is coming from my professional voice acting opinion. =P

im so sick of everyone bashing the english dubs...so maybe it isnt as good as the japanese version (imo the english dub is good to me) but everyone forgets that if it wasnt for the english dubs most americans would have no clue what sailor moon is. So be thankful!

The reason most people like myself absolutely HATE the English dub is:
1. Every story line has been changed
2. Episodes were cut up and mashed together
So basically you're not watching the real series just a crappy version.

Not all English dubbing companies are like that. Dubbing companies vary from each other. Cloverwei didn't change every storyline and mash up episodes like you said.

But Sailor Moon was already established globally once Cloverway got it. They have no excuse.

@brucesv912 - I am in agreement with you on the English dubs of Sailor Moon. Without seeing the show dubbed in English, then I never would have watched it as a kid because I don't know any Japanese, and it is hard for me to understand/learn the language. I know that some parts of Sailor Moon were edited in the English dub, but I am overall just thankful that I was able to see the show and understand it in my own first language, which is English.

@brucesv912 I don't know, there are plenty of anime series that were well known to otakus even before companies in America even thought of dubbing them. Haruhi, Lucky Star, Clannad, and Lyrical Nanoha were all series that were being wathced as subs before the dub came out... What is truly unfortunate is that we had to sacrifice a perfectly good series like sailor moon to DiC and Cloverway... Honestly the dubs would be more acceptable if it weren't for the gatuitious censorship.

@lighttenbie No they only hate it now probably because they grew up watching the english one, when they got older watched the japanese one and thought it was better because it wasnt aimed at kids.... to be honest if they made it like the japanese one nobody in america would probably watch it because it looks like its for younger veiwers and the fact there to old for that sort of story line

@brucesv912 the thing is, the first 2 season were dub very nicely, its just the last 2 that were dubbed, S and SuperS where dubbed in a rush to meet on tv asap, meaning that they couldnt get the old voices but also that the actors were rushed, couldnt get into character and many mistakes were made, also the New Serena voice just sucked, she should of been herself instead of trying to be the old voice..

Because it was the first anime todo transformation,not to say the other precents we have from other lang.i do think we made the english dubs sound like barf.But if you face the facts.no not MOST would have no clue...its BARELY,the english dubs sound like crap~(my sister)and here are just some with the horrible comments

English Pros- Stronger voices, no accent, more comedic.
English Cons- Displays much less emotion in voices, Rini's voice o.o , cuts parts, overdone.
Japanese Cons- Voice for this attack was. . heavily layered in an accent. Her other attacks and transformations were pretty good.
Japanese Pros- In one word, ORIGINAL. Sailor Moon was mainly directed for teens in the Japanese version, thats why there are parts that can be inappropriate to some people. MUCH more emotion in their voices.

there are a few reasons that dubs sometimes suck..
specifically for sm, it obviously wasn't taken seriously, and there was very little consistency.
HEAVY censorship laws at the time = lots of editing out of pointless things
and i think most people know that when animations are done, voices are usually recorded first and then drawings are put to match the voices, whereas the translated version it's the opposite so it can be a little troublesome.

I think people judge too harshly on the English dub. I have watched both the original and the english and it is pretty much the same. A lot of you have to realize that when you literally translate every word from Japanese it sounds so weird in English so naturally they are going to change the dialogue a little.

Pegasus gives it to her, which allows her to summon him so he can give Sailormoon the ability to use the attack. It's really a stupid system. However, Chibimoon's bell is pretty useless attack-wise, though it can be used to do the Pink Sugar Heart Attack (it just fires from the bell instead of from a wand).

I like it better than the Japanese one. i don't understand why people are always hating on the english version. i cant watch the origninal because i do not know japanese but from the differences that i have seen, its not that much different. maybe english is a little more corny but i think its funny

Now looking back after watching the Japanese version of Sailor Moon, especially in this attack scene, I can't believe I watched the English dub. Sailor Moon's voice sounds bloody awful to me now. She sounds like a grown woman, not an innocent teenage schoolgirl who fights evil on the side.-LOL.
