Average male is what, 6'0"? now pause at 0:53, does that look like 10 feet to you? there is a giant 5-6' gap in between the ski patrols head, and the boarders feet. Even from the his feet to the ground it still looks around 13-14' and the drop from the lift is easily 18-20' if it was 10' then the chair lift would be as high as the rock to the right of the middle of the screen. and it's hard to land the right way on a snowboard..

Why would they stop the lift? Wouldn't it be better to try and hang on until the top? Even if they stopped at a tower, the time it would take for someone to climb the tower and stuff the lift could have already been at the end. I have intentionally jumped off a stranded chairlift before...you are sore the next day, but not really a huge deal.

@marcus7626 He is like 5 feet from the tower...that would be one of the higher places on the lift. Plus it is a high speed detachable chairlift...the ride is usually only like 5 minutes. They have one at Vail, where I ski, that is only 2 minutes.

When I was younger (12), I was new to snowboarding. I was trying to make my way along a cat walk, trying to stay out of everyones way by staying towards the edge more. Some lady skiier came by, accidentally knocked me backwards over the edge, and kept going. I was litterally stuck, upside down in powder off the side.
