She loved him and he loved her. Life isn't always black and white and in those days homosexuality was only just being given the understanding we have now reached. As children they both would have had views moulded by society at that time. It must have been very difficult for them both.

How many women do you think would continue to be the best friend of their boyfriend who left them for men? Also, Freddie seemed to actually consider her the love of his life given his statements and his will. I think he's the best judge in this case considering we don't know the personal details.

None of us know 100%. I am not saying Mary wasn't His friend for a major part of His life. I am saying that the way she acted towards the Boys does not show her as this "loving" lady. I know the psychological mechanism behind the things she did, and therefore dislike her even more. I want to stress once again - I am not saying she didn't play a great role in His life - BUT...

Again, we don't know all of the circumstances behind these events, so I don't know if you are qualified to make a judgment. We've only been given one side of the story and that is from Hutton's perspective. Even if she did kick them out in the manner that has been reported it isn't that bad. Of course, I don't consider it nice or respectful, but it isn't as if she committed an atrocity.

She shouldn't make herself look like a saint, thought. HOMOPHOBIA is the name. She "accepted" Freddie, but whatever man was close to him was treated in a way that is VERY disrespectful. I've seen many cases similar to this one and I find it all painful - that's all.

Oh come on. You know He adored her. He would try to justify her behaviour, just as anybody in that situation would.
And, I mean, can't you see that pose? "I was so understanding" and so on... I am very sorry to say that her attitude towards Freddie's partners seems (from what we know,ofc.) not to have been a very supportive or welcoming one.

You are going to have to be more specific. What pose? Where exactly does she say "I was so understanding"? That in itself also isn't that bad. Also, don't you think there were reasons Freddie Mercury adored her? How do you know so much about her attitude toward Freddie's partners? How do we know someone like Jim Hutton wasn't jealous of Freddie's relationship with her?

I think it's a conspiracy theory to say ALL of them were jealous. Even if u have doubts about Jim-it would be riddiculous to claim that Peter & many others around @Garden Lodge got jealous all of a sudden...The way she puts it looks like she finds herself an understanding person. But-all conspiracy theories aside - don't you think SHE looks like the jealous one?I don't want to sound all teary and silly, but it looked like Jim and Freddie loved eachother - & Mary found it impossible to accept.

Freddie seemed to love her more though. At least the will would seem to indicate that and the fact he asked her to spread his ashes in a location only she knows. Freddie did say in a 1985 interview that all his lovers asked him why they couldn't replace Mary Austin. Couldn't it be that both Mary and Jim were jealous of each other? I think she genuinely cared for Freddie and that is why she looks the way she does in this interview.

Who wrote this crap---we're on episode 6 and I haven't heard one frigin song. Is this going to be 12 episodes of Freddie is gay, like that's the most important thing about Freddie Mercury. I think, a gay person consumed with their gayness wrote this crap! how does that make sense? you say "after telling her the truth" then he obviously had a secret - being gay. Saying that he "became gay" you imply that he was no gay before and was gay when he admitted it to his girlfriend, but surely if he admitted something, he knew it before he "came out".
None of us know him intimately anyway.

No, he "became" Gay by choice, not by birth. As she said, he was at one with himself when they frist met, later something happened. What happened was- he was cheating on her with the exec at the record company. Guilt and cheating always destroys relationship.. no wonder he wasnt at one w/ himself any more, then after telling her the truth, it was out, she forgave and remained his friend, & his CHOICE was made to be gay. Obviously he was torn between the 2, as we see later he had another woman.

What freddie loved about mary was that she loved him before he became famous so he always knew it wasn't just because of that. Almost all his serious relationships after mary came after he had aquired a certain amount of fame and success.

Ho Ho - There was, as you say, a certain heterosexual inconsistency about his straight years! I can understand his reluctance to 'come out' though - he was 'different' enough; a great big label that the majority either disapproved of or laughed at wasn't something to be taken on lightly.

Mary didn't kick anyone out. She simply couldn't afford to keep all the staff and some of them left because Freddie gave them a large amount in his will. The money from the will didn't come in till years later. She was thinking of giving up the house because she had no income at the time. Jim is a bitter liar, considering he was a hanger-on and got 500,000 pounds.
