You could get a set of Goodrich Radial 990s and put them on your new Plymouth...Petula Clark was appearing in their ads at that time, performing their jingle--which was based on the Sonny & Cher hit "The Beat Goes On".
Love her silver mini and matching shoes. Miss those days of innocence when women still had an ounce of humility and didn't act sleazy and know it all. It was a kinder generation back then and how I miss it now. Sadly those days seem to be gone forever.
I remember this commercial. I was about 10, and I hadn't yet heard Petula Clark's "Sign of the Times." I think this is a great example of turning a popular song into a commercial jingle.
Years (decades?) ago the NyC public TV channel showed short films from amateur film makers. One was a parody of this commercial. The giant girl gets fingerprints on the car some guy just washed. We don
I remember seeing this commercial for the first during a commercial break for the 1968 Republican Convention--kind of weird why I remember this rather arcane piece of personal trivia.
I looked for several hours at the Television museum in Hollywood several years back. The staff couldn't find it for me after a lot of looking. Finding the McDonalds "At McDonalds, its (we're) clean" was easy. This couldn't be found.
Then it hit me to look on YouTube last night...
Thanks for posting this neat ad. I still sing this jingle and think of the giant gal. I forgot about the touch of painting the racing stripe with lipstick! Very cool!
I remember this ad very well. It came out at the end of 1967, beginning of 1968. I liked the song "Its a Sign of the Times." When I hear that song today I often think of this ad. I was 14 at the time and in 9th grade. They used the giant woman in magazine ads as well. She was the ultimate look 1967! I thought of this ad when I bought BF Goodrich tires in the 1980s.
Wow! 40 years later and I remember the song of this commercial like it was yesterday, down to every single word of the lyrics! Never have forgotten it! They used the Tony Hatch song made popular by Petula Clark, "Sign of the Times" and redid the words. This commercial actually boosted "Sign"'s popularity in the U.S. making it a #11 hit for Clark - but many people remember this!

@jdollinter I agree. MOuthy, attitude, and over inflated sense of worth are what describes the american bitch today. My advice, stay away. Far away.

Hear what he said, but she stomps his car flat. Any chance THAT will be on YouTube?

p.s. this commercial was from 1967, not 1960. The song it was written to wasn't around until 1966!
