  • I guess that is what they mean by singing for your supper.

  • gänsehaut...

  • lol i wish my school did this, it would be like Glee

  • damn I would hate goin 2 that school...

  • wtf??

  • It's benedicite et this is a beautiful custom...to remember how is difficult to product meals and food and also remember those wich are hungry

Sharing food is like the holy last meal in the évangélium

  • singing before the meal - a wonderfull tradition! especially if it is sung so good!

  • You could add KRUZIANER to your tags, it's the other name they use.

  • Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Wow, they are very discipline and respected. This is a good model to the followers in other parts of the world to follow.

  • *Schmacht* als Teilzeitchori liebe ich mehrstimmigen Gesang. Dieser Bass, diese Harmonien, diese blöde Sommer-probenpause! ^^

  • wow!!!! Ich liebe dieses Lied!!!!^^

  • This song is called "Aller Augen Warten Auf Dich, Herre"

    Psalm 145, vv. 15-16

In English, The song lyrics are,

The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

    Psalm 145:15-16

  • This singing before meals ( A prayer song blessing the food and supper?) I like it!

  • oh mand das klingt so himmlisch

  • is this a Choir school?

  • Yes...This documentary shows the life of 6 choristers of the Dresdner Kreuzchor (famous german boys choir)...It is a boarding school, but they attend a "normal" german grammar school in special classes...

  • ahh, so they travel to the school when they have classes, and live there?

What does Dresdner Kreuzchor mean (I know chor must mean choir...)

  • Basically, they have a school around the corner and a dorm, where they "board"...Dresdner Kreuzchor means Cross (Crux) Choir of Dresden. They are named after a famous cathedral, which was nearly destroyed in the second world war and rebuild after it...The church has a very unusual look, because they never "fixed" the interior and nearly left this blank...Now, this is considered art

Wieso muss man denn gerade beim Essen singen?

  • ...there's a reference to it in American culture too. They "sing for their supper"... Thank you for the original German and the translation.

  • ...in Norway often used as grace before meals, particularly when choristers or church musicians are gathered together.

  • cool. I love schütz... (that ist schütz isnit)

  • Yes, it is Schütz (1657)

Text: For those who speak german:

Amen"

  • That's psalm 145:15-16 - for speakers of English it would be this:

"The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.

Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. Amen"

  • Thanks, for the translation...
