Beautiful and well done tribute. I grew up listening to Chicago's music as their hometown was mine as well, their songs are so intertwined with my childhood memories. RIP Terry.
i miss terry kath he was the reason i started listening to chicago. after hearing that awesome solo on "25 or 6 to 4" i was an instant chicago fan and a TK fan. he's one of my many guitar hero's and influences. love all his songs like "once or twice" "byblos" "in the country" "mississippi delta city blues" and " an hour in the shower". chicago was never the same after losing terry, he truly was the soul of the band.
Does anyone know where I find a recording of Tell Me...I have Electra Glide in Blue-but I REALLY love that track-can't find it any where and unable to locate the soundtrack.
@GRunHappiness Join wolfgang's vault for free, just google it, and you can find and watch it streaming on the site! Also play Better End Soon, Make Me Smile, and In the Country! Good stuff.
After Terry Kath Chicago has never been the same, vocals never the same, the sound never the same. Peter Cetera is a total asshole, All that is left is the original Chicago with Terry Kath the heart and soul...
Does anybody know if Terry has been inducted (posthumously) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio..yet? If not, why not?? By the way, Life long fan here--sure miss him xx

Oh you're correct it began December 31, 1974. NYRE dates the event ahead, so if someone were looking for this recording, it would be filed under NYRE 1975. Don't ask me why they do it that way, because it would make more sense to do it the other way lol...
The Doobie Brother & ONJ shared the stage with Chicago for perhaps the best NYRE in the history of the program that night and into the wee hours of the morning. I would have given anything to be there and see them live. The curse of youth!
Thanks for this tender caring tribute to a truly great musician. Terry had more talent and more soul than just about ANYBODY else ever has. Bugs me that he is not better known and more highly respected. HIs tragic death is truly gut-wrenching.
I just wonder how he would have gained in the ranks of a truely great guitarist. I know how good he was but only true guitar players even know him by name. 25 6 to 4 is my Stairway to heaven. When's the last time you've heard of this song. I've had enough of Jimmy Page, let's here some T.K
I've been watching Terry Kath on YouTube all night and this is the best tribute I've seen! I was watching a Chicago concert from last year On Demand on cable and wondered what Terry would have looked like - and sang like- 32 years later.
@okpatriot "Only stupid people put a gun to their head..." YOUR words. I agree 100% with your gun safety tips. I, however, do not agree with what amounts to your calling Terry, "stupid". Terry was a brilliant guitarist/musician, a loving father, devoted husband and all around charming human being. He made a serious, and ulitmately fatal constellation of decisions and for that he paid dearly... as did all of those who loved him. (continued below)
The fact that Chicago isn't in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame, makes it the Rock n Roll Hall of Shame!! I heard Madonna is in it. That there should tell you something about them.
@cdadave83814 Hi, the song is called, "Tell Me" sung by the one, the only Terry Kath. It didn't appear on any CHICAGO albums but was the final song in a 1970's movie called, "Electra Glide in Blue" which James Guercio produced and in which the band members appeared. Terry's vocals are just astounding in the song. You can find the entire version on YouTube, it is truly worth a listen or 8,000!!!
Only stupid people put a gun to their head, whether it is loaded, partially loaded, or unloaded.
The first rule in gun safety is: ALWAYS treat a gun as if it were loaded!!!!!! Also, you NEVER mix drinking and /or drugs with guns!!! This is ALL common sense!!!
I always thought he died of a drug overdose. I really do not think it was an accident.
@okpatriot Try having a little respect for both the dead and their family/friends. Terry's death was a tragic accident and while he was indeed responsible and it was the result of a series of poor decisions made on his part, it in no way, shape or form makes him "STUPID". If you understood that or were even a compassionate human being, you would be less judgmental/more inclined to show empathy for both the circumstances surrounding his death and the suffering it brought to those who love him.
@carina2244 It's not about respect for the dead or their family/friends....my statement was about gun safety, pure and simple.
1) ALWAYS treat a gun as if it were LOADED!!!
2) ALWAYS keep your finger in the SAFETY position!!!
3) NEVER point a gun at anyone, including yourself...loaded or unloaded!!!
4) NEVER mix alcohol &/or drugs with guns!!!!! First rules to gun safety, it is taught in ALL gun classes; whether it be hunter safety or conceal and carry. Just COMMON SENSE!!!
@okpatriot He was impaired, he was, by all accounts, depressed, he was burnt out and he chose to do drugs and hold a gun -- whether he believed it to be loaded or unloaded -- to his head. You must admit that when one is impaired, what might otherwise be one's good judgement rapidly diminishes. Fortunately, most times it doesn't prove deadly. I'm not arguing any of your gun safety tips, I'm just upset with your use of the word, "stupid". Thanks for your reply.
Beyond allo Sorrow is a demo and would have been a fabulous and intriguing son with symphny behind it , so powerful. His death was an accident, Had he lived he would 've gone on as a solo artist. with edgy music. I practiced hrs. on my flute to Colour my world, last year I noticed this really neat guy in early Chicago, fell in love and it's my Terry, his voice, ihs looks his music is missed.
Terry Kath was one of the most talented musicians of all time. I wish that more people knew how amazingly talented he was. Make me Smile is one of my very favorite songs, and I LOVE his voice, not to mention his awesome guitar playing.
We have all, at one time or another, done things in an instant that just weren't that well thought out. Our actions may or may not have tragic consequences. Sometimes we just get lucky. Terry's mistake proved fatal for him, but it in no way makes him stupid.
Terry would have been 64 years-old today. Imagine him still rockin' us with that unbelievable voice and that tele after all these years? I can - - and how I wish it could have been. God Bless Terry, his family, his friends and all of his fans who love and miss him so 32 long years after his TRAGIC death.
Hey, I have an EXCELLENT idea, "WillyWonka....." Why don't you go the hell back to your stupid chocolate factory and fall into a scorching vat of the sweet stuff?? Then, suffocate...so we won't be subjected to ANY more inane, baseless, pathetic venom like you've managed to spew out here... I'd TRIPLE DARE you to utter your garbage in the presence of Robert Lamm, Terry's best friend... He'd MORE than "set you straight"...You punk... People DO make mistakes... You're here aren't you?? Enough said.

The gifted musician obviously knew very little about the weapon he "stupidly" put to his head. We all make mistakes and no one is perfect, however this is not "tragic" it is more an act of complete ignorance which seems to have ended his life. Take time to think about using firearms responsibly and lets not try to be funny or complacent with a device which purpose is to kill.
I agree -- TK absolutely should have known better, and otherwise would have under more sober circumstances. TK has been mocked and ridiculed postmortem about this for 30+ years now -- which I think is mean spirited; especially considering that Michelle is still here to see and hear it all.
I think Camelia and Michelle, his bandmates and fans would beg to differ that TK's death wasn't tragic. As correct as you may be -- guns and booze do not mix; nor does fooling around, and I am sure Camelia herself would agree ... there really wasn't a need to be so insensitive.
Soulful, hypnotic, mesmerizing voice of the one, the only, the inimitable Terry Kath. As if his voice was not enough of a blessing to those of us who loved him, his guitar playing was nothing short of incredible! Thanks KarmicOmen for a fitting and touching tribute to this truly remarkable-- comes along once in your lifetime if you're lucky -- human being.
Thank you so much ... Terry was amazing; so as a thankful fan I felt I owed it to him to honor him, and also give those too young to remember him an opportunity to enjoy his legacy ;o)
Thanks for posting the tribute. I would only add Terry did take lessons. He learned some jazz chords and learned chord structures. I can't remember his teacher's name off hand but he was more of a jazz guy and Terry wanted to learn rock and R&B chords. He just didn't read music.
the solo on "Lowdown" is one of my all time favs along with of course the incredible work on "25 or 6 to 4!" i tried to send it to my fb page....didn't see the note about embedding first time 'round. Great tribute! Thank you!
