I hate how no1 knows about Phantom, but only know about Webber's Phantom of the Opera because Webber rushed the opening so that Yeston's Phantom wouldnt have a chance.
I understand why you did it this way, and that comment want directed to you, it was directed to people in general because i hate how people think they know everything and they dont..
Thanks for the vid. I like this song, I sang it in my voice lessons (Feeling like Christine except my voice teacher was female, shorter than me and did not have anti-social tendencies. ;) and I think it is very sweet. It goes with the movie well too of course!
@Amber417 The 1990 version IS Yeston/Kopit, actually! :D They just removed all of the musical's songs to make it a straight screenplay, then went back and put in opera. After the movie aired on TV, the released the musical. So they are the same thing.
@debsrule Niether can I. All I can say is keep an eye out for when it rolls around. I've heard that it's a favorite for high schools since ALW's takes so much money to produce.
I know the song is not from Andrew Lloyb Webber's Phantom of the Opera. I have seen both shows and know the difference between them. That's why I mentioned both versions in the description of the video. I just wanted to combine two of my favorite versions of the Phantom's story together.
Hey, Just so you know this isn't from The Phantom of the Opera this is from Phantom a musical that was written by Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit. So maybe change the title of the video??
I think Glory Crampton sings the hell out of this song. There is a uniqueness to her voice which helps make the song great. I saw a recent production and the song was performed okay but never did it soar. She's great.
My true love, lost in a shadow play, I will find a way through fear and doubt; I will find you out in the secret places you hide about.
No, my love, more than a fantasy, you must be for me. I'll hear your voice and I'll see your brow, and I'll know your face, like your music. Can you hear me now ?
Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been trying to find songs from the Yeston and Kopit version of Phantom. This is definitely my favorite song!
Thanks for posing this, I am looking for Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit's Phantom for a long time. Do you have another songs from this adaptation? Really thanks!!!
Any idea who's singing. I'm pretty sure it's my voice teacher! OMG Lol :D

I wish Yeston Kopit would make a musical movie of their show.

the charles dance movie version from 1990 is kind of like yeston kopit, but they used real opera instead of the music from the stage musical

I don't get why you have images from Webber's Phantom of the Opera if the song is from Yeston's Phantom....they are different shows???

Yeah I'm not really a fan of Glory, idk what it is, but something about the way her voice sounds seems a bit off to me...
drmaqueen1289 4 years ago
What might seem a bit off to you is the amount of vibrato she employs even when singing the highest of notes.
