Emppu's playing dissapointed me for Storytime, I really hoped for the guitar parts to be fresh for Imaginaerum.

@Laprevraven I have to agree there. I loved the record but I felt the guitars (along with everything else) were a very distant second to the grand orchestral elements.

Emppu just seemed to chug along when needed there were no memorable solos. But Tuomas has a bold vision and I'm sure Emppu did his best to accommodate that.

@RolandDeschain1 It's cause they just wanted to keep the metal element in the music. Nightwish is one of the few metal artists who make arrangements that sound beautiful, melodious, and classical, and then overlay the typical metal elements over it. My theory is that a big part of why New Nightwish is hated is because it isn't as metal as it used to be, which I deducted from people calling New Nightwish's music too pop.

@bonestorm99 I just think the pendulum has swung far away from metal on this album. To me they were always a metal band with symphonic elements. Now I feel that has been reversed.

Still, I don't think there's another band out there who can do this stuff as well as they do.

@RolandDeschain1 Well theres After Forever (Dreamflight, De-Energized....) and Epica (Kingdom of Heaven, Martyr of the free world, etc) who prioritizes metal above the symphonics. Unfortunately, AF disbanded after releasing one of the best albums in Symphonic Metal.

So great we get much more Marco with this album than with the previous ones!

It's absolutely fantastic! Imaginaerum's possibly the most serious Nightwish work to date! My granny had Parkinson and this makes Imaginaerum something I can easily relate to, even if the theme of the album is about something a little different. I feel this is going to be one of my faw NW albums!

PS: Had a presentation on Whitman and Nightwish's Song of Myself yesterday. Was so proud to do it!

Well,if you look at the first release dates,they're in Finland and Sweden.Then Germany and the rest of central Europe.It will be released later in the US probably because of the distance between the album's 'mother country' and because they probably want to release it first in Europe.

Got the album finally, been waiting to listen to it. Now been listening to it over and over. It´s more "complex" than DPP, takes more listenings than DPP to get into it really (for me personally). Surprisingly not as much distorted electric gtrs flying on it. Easily better and more important than 90% of recorded stuff out there in the music business, though. My fave track "Scaretale".

Yeah, it's rare that he speaks, but he does sometimes. Check out the making of Wish I had an Angel with interviews, and there is a short interview with him (in English too). There is also a Nightwish interview on a German TV show where he speaks a little, but the video is poor quality.
