great song and nice video concept overall, although as a republican and Yankee fan some of those clips were harsh. At any rate, good to see Third Eye Blind doing well, hopefully another hit single in store for summer 2010.
He forgot to add the pics with Obama and Joe (butthead) Biden during the "don't you believe a word" chorus. If ANYONE thinks Obama has people's best interests in mind they are fools, including Stephen J
Wow, get a life loser. If you think any politician truly has the people's best interest in mind than you are truly an idiot. You sound like a Fox News fanboy......Hop off Rush Limbaugh's dick you fag.
Why are people so put off by musicians expressing their political beliefs? They aren't telling you how to feel! I think it's funny that people are such bitches when it comes to the opinions of others. If that's how you feel, then please keep that opinion to yourself.;-)
They were never post grunge. They were AOR with a hint of power pop. Alternative radio picked up a few of thier cds, but they are 10 more alternative than post grunge.
I can do without the political crap. Why alienate 50% of your audience? It makes no business sense. I'm an adult and know how to think on my own. Thanks. Thumbs down on the first song.
It's about as offensive as "American Idiot" was 4 Green Day & it did well thank you very much. As for DBAW, It's not that strong of a political statement & I don't find it offensive or off-putting. I love the song for its content & its simple message. Thumbs up from me! I think most third eye blind fans will love the song as well as the album. Maybe the garden variety music fan & A.D.D halfwits will be put off w/ the leadoff track. This song is nowhere near as controversial as say Slow Motion
I like the song. I mean usually I prefer when 3EB sticks to things like love, sex, etc. However, the song is just asserting the notion of how corrupt the government and pop cultural has become. He takes some shots at Bush, but honestly who cares. Bush was an awful president and regardless on your beliefs regarding our new president I would hope you would be able to agree with that. The song is just a satire of all the corruption that is occurring in our country. It's far from their best song but
Are they really complaining about George Bush in their lead-off single? I love 3EB, but this song is a big disappoint. I hope the other songs are better... a lot better.
i dont think this song is a dissapointment but i cant fucking stand it when bands get political! Im a huge 3EB fan been to there show own all 4 releases but yeah there music needs to stay consistant with the past!
It's not political actually. Don't Believe A Word is telling you to not to believe anything just because you hear it from parents, teachers, friends, government, etc. And besides, they can do whatever they want. Listen to their first 3 albums. All totally different sound/feel. They change their sound considerably with every release.
I wondered why this song was bad. Graduate well still an ok song is my least favorite of theirs. I don't understand why they would want to copy that formula.
I agree with the earlier comment, especially when you realize they aren't comparing 3EB WITH The Who, but at 2:35, the driving repeated chord phrases stabilize Stephan's shrieks; much like in "Won't Get Fooled Again".
lol why you got 2pac as this videos avatar

It's not a bad single. Miss the days when they were post-grunge though.

True, but on their first album you can hear the "dirty" guitar and other elements that made up grunge. I agree they are more alternative/power pop.

this song isn't about hating President Bush, right???

I just realize they are trying to mimic the Graduate formula. Not bad once you get used to the fact it's just meant for fun.

2:35 is just pure stephan jenkins doing his thing. there are many mixes to this song, but i love every one. countdown to August 18th =] =] =]

I'm glad they're back too, , but this mix is terrible. Every live version I've heard was MUCH better.

whats with the moan at 2:26? ahhah i love it
russohomieee 2 years ago
not a fan of the final mix they used.
song is GREAT live
the vocal effect here sounds weird though, and everything is kinda blending into everything else...hmmm
its good, but having heard the song live and more raw, its better

I think it's a bit noisy for good ole 3Eye Blind, Non Dairy Creamer was great, this one I gotta get used to. I'm still glad they are back.

The Who?
Pshhh... Third Eye Blind is incomparable to rock'n'roll legends.
Balling song tho, this single version comes together much better than the early live versions i've heard.

Stephan even uses the line "I hope we don't get fooled again", as what I would suspect is a direct reference.
