@karlscorn Ultraman never actually fought Godzilla, but for an episode they used a retired Godzilla suit to make the monster Jirass for Ultraman to fight.
I liked the original, but my only problem with it is that they use a godzilla suit to make one of the monsters and they only added a few things to it. Because of that some people think that is godzilla, which pisses me off.
I want to know where I can an authentic looking Ultraman costume... anyone here know?
A few years ago I saw some ridiculous Japanese game show on cable. They were running around with Ultraman and Boltan costumes on... those costumes were very accurate looking.
I love it for the same reason I love Lost in Space, the 1960s version of Batman and Land of the Giants and Time Tunnel. There really is such a thing as so bad that its good!
HAHA! Great video! I have the 2 part DVD set. Yeah I love Ultraman! Sometimes I wished I had "ultra powers" LOL! I am glad to have gotten a chance to see the original series when it aired in the late 70s or very early 80s. I like how you highlighted the powers of Ultraman in the video.
EXCELLENT COMPILATION-especially the weapons segment!!! It's about time someone put together the best segments from the ORIGINAL Ultraman!!! That show's my #1 link to the 60's, 70's, AND Japan!!! My favorite episode is where Aboras and Banila fight inside the stadium-Easily the most original setting for a fight scene between giants!!! It hasn't aired on TV in the Philadelphia area, since the Winter Of '79!!! FunBob62, YOU THE MAN!!!
@ultramanhayata1 I'm glad you liked it! Ultraman has been my favorite hero for roughly 40 years now and I was blown away when I saw they came out with such a cool DVD set. I couldn't resist putting some highlights together. I mainly wanted to include all the monsters and all of Ultraman's powers. This could've easily been a full-length movie with all the stuff I wanted to include. Thanks!
@FunBob62 I brought Volume 2 with me to Wildwood, NJ a couple weeks ago, in case either day was a washout! Oddly enough, however, Mother Nature DID cooperate, so I didn't actually watch it down there!
@CoasterBob62 I'm thinking about learning Japanese through Rosetta Stone, just so I can FINALLY watch all the other versions of Ultraman, especially The Return Of Ultraman!!!
@ultramanhayata1 Good luck with that! Learning Japanese will be difficult to master, but certainly not impossible. You can turn on the English subtitles on the Ultraman DVD's to help you.
@ultramanhayata1@ultramanhayata1 It's interesting that you link Ultraman to Japan. When I was little my favorite things were Speed Racer (which I must admit I love more than Ultraman), Ultraman, Godzilla of course, and isn't there a kid with a giant robot? But I never connected any of them with Japan, I just thought they were the best things on TV.
The show you refer to is probably Space Giants! I never thought of them as Japanese back in the day, either.
My OTHER reason for loving Japan is the fact that Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Dokken, and Accept all recorded their first live albums there!! At least twice as many bands/artists FILMED concerts there-Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Judas Priest, Kiss, Rainbow, Journey, Night Ranger, Dio, Dokken, Queensryche, Accept, Stryper, and Yngwie Malmsteen!!
@ultramanhayata1 I looked it up, I think the one I am referring to was Johnny Sokko and his Giant Robot. That's quite a list! You sound just like all my best friends in junior high. I of course went the Depeche Mode/Cure way in high school, so needless to say we drifted apart. :)
@yoyoEJ I guess you could say he was a good monster. He didn't to be on Earth, he just wanted to go home (I cried watching that episode when I was a kid!) Ultraman was relatively nice to him.
That's great Making Movie!Thanks|∵|/

@bishopbros That's Pigmon. Red King squashed him in Episode 8, then he reappeared in Episode 37 and got squashed again.
