  • study the whole fight and get your head out of clays ass,,,,,,,,clay was allowed to steal leons title,,clay jabbed and grabbed the whole fight,,he held so much it was disgusting,,the most ive ever seen in a title fight ,,he should have been disqualilfied,,leon served his country,,clay served himselt,,,,now clay is an out of shape stumbling bumbling ol fool who is brain dead like a mutherfucker,,,fuck clay he got what he deserved

  • You are one of the creepiest persons on earth to say things like that. Grow up kid.

I'm very curious if YOU are getting old and staying healthy.

  • @nastylefthook1 fuk off dikmucher, watch all his fights nd come bak nd say that u piece of shit, plus so fuk if he didnt fight in nam, wood u fight for a country that for ur whole life classed u as a dirty sly piece o shit version of "normal people" because u werent white , wood u fuk!!! nd if u dont believe me look at the time that he was brought up in, so go fuk ursel u spawn of a junkie

  • Look at Ali's reach... dang man dang.

  • Kin slant commentators..

Ali at 20 would have crucified all the spink's in one ring.

  • he really had no real reason to continue fighting after manilla

  • @shareschannel Bert Sugar once said that the only thing he had in common with other champions was that he fought too long.

  • ali beat him fair and square.thats the bottom line. spinks was is and always be a joke.for those who dont like tough shit.deaL WITH IT............ali will always be number one........

  • Truth of the matter was Ali took Spinks very lightly in the first match, # 2 he was firm and fit and turned back the hands of time and won the title for an unprecedented third time. With nothing lefy to prove he should have retired that year, but when on to fight legitimate punchers like Earnie Shavers. After Shavers he should have left on top, but you know ex wives still want their checks and business goes on. Ali was and will always be THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

  • Maybet he best heavyweight of all timem but as he as said in a interview the best P4P is Sugar Ray robingson.

  • Spinks, by a Split (????) Decision

  • Ali was shot and he knew it, so, after that incredibly tough Shavers fight, he was looking for a soft man to beat in his (supposedly) last fight. Add Don King´s antics and the WBC´s corruption, and hey presto! Meanwhile, Larry Holmes was kept waiting... Spinks has a title shot...

  • Do you know what FEE FY FOE FEE FY FOE FUM is? Leon Spinks' phone number.

  • He has mental dimentia now

  • ali/spinks 2 was a joke,,,ali threw one maybe two long jabs at a time then held on for dear life,,he was allowed to do this for fifteen rounds,no warnings or point deduction,,he grabbed and held the whole fight,,should have been disqualified,,the champ deserved better,,clay was just a big bear holding little leon the whole fight,,it was like trying to get a cheap rug off you,,,should have been disqualified and leon should have retained his title,,but we must protect clay at all cost,,,,,,hmmmm

  • What a load of shit! You try and take on a guy that won a gold medal and was a Marine and was tough. Holding is common with heavys & for that matter any weight. Tyson held. It's what happens! What did u do watch ONE round and skim the others, Like all your other comments based on no knowledge. This isn't Ali worship/ Leon could have been as good as Micheal but the fame and fortune of being the champ went to his head. This is what fighters do they grab.Live with it or try and change the rules.

  • Like I said up here a while back:

"Ali clinched a HELL of a lot more than he usually did [in the 2nd Spinks fight]. He didn't and COULDN'T clinch as much with guys like Norton, Lyle, Foreman, etc. because they were BIG men. Leon was basically a cruiserweight, a much smaller man with shorter arms...he was ripe for clinching. Ali simply covered up with the BIG BOYS." "A more responsible and possibly less jaded ref WOULD have taken points from Ali."

    There's nothing to debate about.

  • I thought ali Refused the army and Hw-world titles was taken away because of that

  • who the mother fuck won?

  • This was thirty years ago tonight. It was on NETWORK TV, back then things were in some ways better.I watched it with my dad and I remember him saying he thought Spinks might have won, while we waited for what was to be a Spinks split decision. When Ali appeared for Spinks 2, he looked like he had spent the entire months between fights in the gym. Spinks went on to being busted and had some coke in his hat. That's why you see guys on tv covering face with hat - they are sniffing their hat!

  • Muhammad Ali´s title defense against Jean-Pierre Coopman was 32 years ago tonight.

  • oh, boy... fear and loathing in the near room. Ali was actually quite a sport about losing this fight. He gave Spinks his due. But he came back and won in New Orleans and Spinks would never be the same. Just another tired geek on the floor of the ring. The Boxing Gods wouldn't have it. His career went down from there.

  • omg what the fuck ali has disroyed him.. fuck

  • Ali was already old here much past his prime and suffering from a hole in the brain membrane which made him much slower than he would be without and in his prime ..

  • True.

  • wake up,,spinks was tireless, much quicker hands, ali was getting old in the ring,,spinks would have won second fight too,,but ali was allowed to jab jab and then bear hug spinks all night,,ref never once warned ali over the excessive grabbing,,should have been penalized points numerous times in fight,,

  • Thats true.

  • Not sure what fight you were watching, but Spinks didn't do enough to win the second fight. Ali outboxed him and landed more punches. He didn't clinch any more than he normally did. Not enough to warrant being penalized, like John Ruiz. The fans, Cosell and Spinks' corner all knew Ali clearly won the second fight.

  • Actually, Ali clinched a HELL of a lot more than he usually did. He didn't and COULDN'T clinch as much with guys like Norton, Lyle, Foreman, etc. because they were BIG men. Leon was basically a cruiserweight, a much smaller man with shorter arms...he was ripe for clinching. Ali simply covered up with the BIG BOYS.

  • Yes, I admit it was easier to clinch Spinks because he was smaller. Ali had to have it that night, so he smothered Spinks when he got in close to start something. He had to pull out all the stops his experience provided for him, since his skills had all but faded.

  • I hear ya, Ali had nothing left in the tank, but after watching the fight again after all these years, it was HARDLY a blowout. A more responsible and possibly less jaded ref WOULD have taken points from Ali. If there was EVER a boxer who got away with things no one else would have in the ring, it was DEFINITELY Ali. He's THE GREATEST, but Manila WAS his last hurrah.

  • Yes. Ali-Berbick is pathetic. He wanted tocome back to challenge a 22-year old Tyson! He was 46, badly overweight (255 pounds) and with Parkinson´s. Im glad Dundee stopped him. Tyson would literally kill him with one punch.

Ali: What do you think of me coming back to fight Mike Tyson?

Dundee: Theres no gas left in the tank.

  • Ali actually gave a better account of himself against Berbick than he did against Holmes. He was slow and off-balance, but he was landing punches...even right hand leads. Berbick was a bull and wore Ali down in the later rounds. Ali was actually in the fight until late. But yes, Ali fought on guts and smarts that night, because the physical skills were gone.

  • He did. He was on Thorazine for Holmes, which left him in that state. He fought better against Berbick because he did not use it. He even staggered Berbick in the seventh round. But, to me, Ali´s last blaze as a fighter was against Mr. Frazier in Manila.

  • I agree completely. Neither guy was the same after that fight. Ali still managed to show flashes against Ron Lyle and Earnie Shavers.

  • True, and I congratulate him on that. His heart complemented his fading skills.

  • umm,u sound like your a big fan..of LEON?get a fuggin life this guy wuz an absol bum

  • A bum who beat Ali.

  • not the ali i remeber when he was young, that's not real, ali wudnt have had this guy 4 a sparring partner when he was in his prime

  • I didnt say he was. I meant to say what I said. He was a bum who beat Ali. Now STFU.

  • oh kay

  • Actually, Moochie has a POINT. Watch the 2nd fight without the audio. Judges, audiences, and commentators got fooled by the "Ali Mystique" quite bit: like against Jimmy Young, EVERY Norton fight, and the premature stoppage of Ron Lyle.

  • Ali lost because he was playing with this fool.

  • Muhammad Ali came physically and mentally unprepared for this fight. He underestimated the courage and heart Leon Spinks.

  • Ali, 36...

    Spinks, 25...

  • Yes.

  • If Ali had fought this way in the first 9 or 10 rounds, he would have won easily. He took Spinks very lightly, clowned and gave away the first 8 or 9 rounds...waiting for Spinks to get tired. Unfortunately, he never did.

  • Nah, he would have tired even more.
