You realize the mama is just gonna come back and eat about half of them anyway, right? I had a hamster who did that every time she gave birth. And you can't save them, I tried raising them myself and they died anyway. SO glad I don't have freaking rodents anymore!!! Disgusting, smelly cannibals!!!

Also, I had mice (supposed to be two females, but someone at the store screwed THAT up!), and their babies were identical to these too. They're all tiny, pink, newborn rats, really . . .

Mother will eat her babys if you have the dad in the cage if she is stressed out if she is unexperienced at birthing and or thinks she cant take care of all of them if they are sick or if you touch them it will get your scent on them making the mother not recgonize them so she will not think theyre hers and she will either abandon them to starve to death or she will eat them. you should always seperate the mom and dad cuz right after she gives birth she will go into heat again! so split them up.

When my hamster had her babies.. a couple days later I realized that some where missing.. there's no possible way the could've escaped because one.. I remember when my Blackbear gave birth to 11 beautiful baby hamsters a week after I got her and the day she had them the day after Easter. She was the best mother ever. Didn't eat any of her babies and also the day that I bought her, she let me hold her on the way home. Not once did she dare bite me, I was one of her cubs. One of her children was blonde. XD I have such a good story of hamsters from those few weeks. I ended up with 13 hamsters. haha

@1tomh1 Well, it's possible the mother died during childbirth and the person has to hand foster them. Another possibility is that the mother and owner have a comfortable and trusting relationship. If a mother is comfortable enough with its owner, it will even let them hold her newborn babies in front of her. But other fucking pricks like you all over the internet assume everybody is trying to abuse their pet or harm them.

I've already made that point, but you're just going to ignore that, aren't you. Perhaps the owner had to switch cages due to unknown circumstances, and had to take the mother out first so she wouldn't kill her babies trying to protect them. I'm an experienced hamster owner myself. I had one hamster that didn't trust me at all, and I had another that would let me hold her in her dying hour. I've seen people put their hands in their cage, and the mama hamster would PUT her newborn baby in their hand. It's pretty amazing how close you can be with your hamster.
