I know the Mazda has a small turbo but it's almost not worth it when you can get more power in NA cars. I mean you can turn up the boost and get mods for the Mazda and it shoudl crack 200hp. Also a base RSX isn't high compression and gets160hp only 10 less than the Mazda. Anyway I love my turbo RSX-S
sadly owners of the msp dont know anything i own a mazdaspeed protege i ran 13.9 street tires stock turbo 10 psi untuned (stock computer), bad motor mounts ..mods: forged wastegate, greddy bov 3" downpipe and front mount intercooler( relocated maf kit) so for 170hp like ya say i think its not very bad.. and educate urself to vangrollerboi
There is going to be no argument about what motor puts out bigger HP #s, If you turbo a Honda motor RIGHT you will get big HP. The MSP motor is very weak, the tranny is very weak. Its just a great car to drive as is that it doesn't need a whole lot. I've had mine since new and I couldn't have made a better purchase. I've been loving it for 6 years now. Maybe someday I'll break 200 whp, but I don't really care.
ow much boost? I get 253.4whp and 192wtq on about 6.5psi on the stock engine on my RSX. The Mazdaspeed Miata and Protege seem weak. I mean 170hp and 160tq. That's less hp than a stock RSX Type-S and only 10hp more than a base RSX. Even it's torque is only 18lbs more.
MSP what not built to go in a straight line. Blinding straight-line speed wasn't the goal. Handling is the Mazdaspeed forte. All Mazda did was they turbocharged the stock 140hp engine and made 170hp with 6psi. And thats with 9.1:1 compression. The RSX on the other hand....well it comes with 11.0:1 of course you make more hp. You should educate yourself before you post.
@vangrollerboi higher compression doesn't neccesarily mean more hp, also RSX's have speed and handlign the ultimate combo. I mean if you have a turbocharger go for the gusto and make the car 200hp or more from the factory at least, then it's just a waste of a turbo. ALso a base RSX compression is about 9:1 or so and gets 160hp, which is good
@MaddDogg81 what I mean is with less boost, high compression and of course a good cylinder head combo(K20) + N/A ign/fuel ecu map from factory you will generate HP easily. BUT all depends on your turbo setup combination and supporting mods. All engines are made reliably and perform differently from factory. The MSP came with a small tiny GT25 if you didn't know.
that is the STOCK bypass valve sound. people HATE that sound, but I do like it. But mine will be replaced anyway, BOV's are better. When MSP's get a intake added that sound get magnified and that's what it sounds like.

I do have a intake and TBE. I am running the Forge BPV, the stock one just sounded regular to me.

What kind of BOV are you using? I have a ms3 and I have always wanted that sound.
