Thanks Boogie-guy! I think it's about being distracted from homework by a certain woman-folk. Either way, what I like about Otis Rush's version and Greenie's Mac version is the incongruity of an old blues man or a bunch of 60s London hippies singing about inocuous things like school and homework! I like the perversity of it!
Watching the discussion here & am compelled to put my girly girl yet mouthy-mouth two cents in.I DO know many young folks who are well-tuned in to jazz/blues/classic music.
This surprises me sometimes-till I recall a 12year old girl who cashed in neighbor's soda bottles in '67 to go see BB King live & nvr looked back frm blues again.
I'm guessing it's also a bit of peer pressure & though it doesn't place in my faves list-I'll even listen to some hip-hop if there's a good message.
and half the rappers are fake half of them never lived in the city or did the things they sing about, all a ploy to seel there music, 50% wouldnt last a minnute on the west side of Detroit or out in LA with there talk
yeah so true, they seem to have there head stuck into rap and think its cool to call ladys hoes and bi86hes and all the other junk that goes with rap, like murder and rap and killing is a normal every day thing,
Thanks Antarblue. Giving the kids ideas?LOL!! It would be nice if some of the younger generation would give an honest listen to your music. They may decide it is not half bad.LOL!!
Thanks Marcus. I didn't compose this song. It was first recorded by west side Chicago bluesman Otis Rush then covered by the hirsute English blues band Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. This song is about being 'distacted' by womenfolk! Either way, it was kind of a perverse incogruity to see these guys singing about homework! Otis Rush re-recorded it in the 90s; he was in his 60s! I do get a lot of listeners in the 0-18 demographic. There are mostly boy guitar players, but some girls.
Actually, there are a lot of kids who dig my music according to YouTube insight! In the 0-18 category. A Correspond with a few; one is 12! My influence is being felt. I can see how the videos, choice of guitars and material changes.
Fortunatly blues is very popular right now and some the older artists are still alive. I like Otis Rush, Albert, BB and Freddie King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Earl Hooker; and Eric Clapton, Peter Gree, Mike Bloomfield et al. They are all here on YT!
Rock on Man!

Great cover! Could you by any chance send me the chord progession? Would love to learn it.
baller1888 3 years ago
It's almost all F#min with a riff. The riff is F3min-E-C#. The bridge is C#min (iv) to D# (V).
In minor keys the V chord is almost always Major.

Great song choice. I love the Mac version of this, playing to what seems like a room full of supermodels.
