Nobody copares to Jennifer Warnes and have to admit when I went to play this I wasn't expecting to like it but I think Reba did a good job with it. Really nice when people remake an oldie but goodie and this was a great one!!!

How many pop songs did Reba McIntire borrow from the mid to late 70s? I saw where she covered "Angel In Your Arms" by Hot (1977) and now this. Her country songwriter must have been sleeping on the job, for her to do so much borrowing.

Reba's earlier work is better than some of her more recent popcountry. I prefer her in this traditional country sound --more wholesome and less spit and polished than the sound she has now.

MTV really sent country back underground when it exploded (Alabama is a great example despite their numerous awards); but throught the '70s and early '80s (except maybe briefly at the height of the disco craze), country was welcome to cross over to the top 40. After that Kenny/Dolly duet, it was all underground, until a brief period in the mid-late '90s. Something that's sadly missing in today's top 40; Taylor Swift is really just pop.

Throughout the 1960's and most of the 1970's, a common practice was for artists to record covers of recent hits to fill up space on an album. If you saw a familiar title, you might buy the album just to compare.

That being said, I think Reba does a fairly good job on this song. She doesn't hit a clunker at all - she's just not doing all of the vocal ornamentation that we're used to hearing from her.

This is a great performance...but lets remember that this is not the Reba we have all grown to love and admire. This is a very young Reba McEntire. She was just starting out and learning the ropes...It's 1977...she has come so far...In my opinion she is the greatest there will every be...she is my hero!!!

I have been a fan of Reba's since the days when NO ONE knew who she was (back when even using her last name didn't identify her!). This song appears on her first album, Reba McEntire, released in 1977 (I am lucky enough to have an original copy.). And though I love Reba's little country version of this song, the song truly belongs to Jennifer Warnes. Her version kicks butt!!

Omigod! I've always loved Jennifer Warnes voice, but this version makes me realize how much more dynamic Jennifer's voice actually is. And I've always felt Jennifer has a dynamic voice. I appreciate it even more now...if that's even possible.
