OMG I used to live in Clayton!! All the times the sirens went off & tornadoes came near, DO NOT miss it. Haha love the part about the green sky, @ 0:48. Can't see it on here though.
@dmnxh107 green sky can generally relate to tornaodes. its green mainly becuase the hail inside gives it the green glow and in order to get the hail you need strong updrafts which is where your tornado sits.
I wish the Science Center had been broadcasting this guy, no matter how unprofessional he sounds. They were closing just as the mall in West County was hit and were telling people to leave. We were stuck in car in the middle of Forest Park as it hit Clayton and then the Forest Park area. We were really glad that it wasn't a tornado at that point! What we sat through was scary enough!!!
if you are a radio man, damn dude you reallyyy need to calm the fuck down. people listening in dont wanna hear panic, especially from someone who isnt even close to the danger...
I live in Dogtown on the city's west end, near Clayton, and I didn't see this cloud. Must have been the one that moved northeast and took out Bridgeton. I was looking out on my front deck the whole time. It faces north. I did see plenty of activity that way.
A GREEN. SKY. THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. A. GREEN. SKY. THAT MEANS IT'S REAL, FOLKS. A GREEN. SKY. THIS IS RIDICULOUSLY DANGEROUS, GREEN. SKY. THIS IS REAL. A GREEN. SKY.
i was at Dierbers in Fenton and had no Idea there was even severe weather coming. The power went out to my surprise, came back on, went out again, and after it came back on I could hear a roaring coming from the roof. Aparently the Hot water heater vents were shaking from the wind. I went out on my lunch break maybe 10 mins later and there was a truck on its side and trees uprooted. the cart coralls were blown all over the place and St. Paul parish across the street was torn up pretty bad.
Wow, I went to college at SLU-I know all those buildings well. Who are you making a weather report to? Because you CANNOT issue a tornado warning without a trained spotter sighting a tornado-"on the ground".
I was at a convention just outside downtown St. Louis and it was ridiculously black. Our hotel was hit really hard..then we went home the next day (I live sort of near West County mall) and there were downed trees all over the place. ._. scary.
i dont remember this? oh i think i do it was raining like crazy and i cryed because the siren went on but we did not go in the basement at all we just watched a movie and done !!
Interesting to see this now. That was my back yard the twister was touching down in. Tore the hell out of a bunch of trees. We weren't hit as bad as some.
Im from arnold missouri and theres alot of tornado activity. There was a tornado right across the street from our hous it was an F3 and it only tore the shingles of the roof and completely destroyed the house across the street. I love tornados they are so interesting and unpredictable
The "green sky = tornado" thing is a myth. It does happen when there are storms, but is no indication of the severity or tornadic activity. Research is ongoing. It happens only in late afternoon and early evening when the blue light scattered by water droplets in the air mix with a reddish evening sky to make it appear slightly green. It is cool and eerie though!
