This project is not practical to common people in a near future: you need to be a pilot in order to fly this kind of vehicles, a traffic control from the ground all over the route for you and other pilots and God helps you if a violent and sudden gust of wind reach your vehicle, it can put your vehicle upside down.
40 years of Moller's project does not even produce a reliable vehicle to safely fly 10 miles.
We like to impress girls so that we can have sex. Flying cars involve danger, and signifigant pwnage over other members of the species. This is an extremely viable option if you are lacking in other areas, such as toughness.

This configuration (8 ducted fans) is VERY inefficient: I do not understand why Moller insist with those little fans since the eighties.
Moller: put just two big fans (or 4 fans), two engines, each one driving all the installed fans and you will get a reliable and safe flying car.
8 fans will never be efficient enough.

This is a brilliant idea i had this idea befor seing this guy iw ould wanna go help him get it mass produced after solving the fuel consumption problem... I dunno what james is talking about becuase that thing looks freakin cool and i could fly over area 51 and make the ufo finatics spazz out!

@AgrivatedKillah Obviously great minds don't think alike. I am talking about with out propellers,rocketry and with out jet engines.May be these 4 elements may help.Magnetism,High Voltage,Plasma,and Sound Wave. Now you get the idea,but whats the different is that he has money to burn and I don't.

@TripleX2go Magnetism I can see, high voltage I could see at least in two different ways, plasma seems very unlikely, and how you'd use sound waves to do anything just confuses the hell out of me.

Engines are OK, but propellers are too small to be eficient.
This project is not practical to common people in a near future: you need to be a pilot in order to fly this kind of vehicles, a traffic control from the ground all over the route for you and other pilots and God helps you if a violent and sudden gust of wind reach your vehicle, it can put your vehicle upside down.
40 years of Moller's project does not even produce a reliable vehicle to safely fly 10 miles.

We like to impress girls so that we can have sex. Flying cars involve danger, and signifigant pwnage over other members of the species. This is an extremely viable option if you are lacking in other areas, such as toughness.

@applesweeter Actually, I was really cynical, the reason I like to design flying machines is because it is something that I feel can really positively change the world, could you imagine being able to fly when ever you want? Shooting high into the sky on a perfect day? The funny thing is that if I ever do design something that would enable me to do that, I wouldn't really want to give it to the masses... just to the people who can build one themselves!!! :D
