Great as always. The Berlin Philharmonic, whether in past or present, have continued to amaze me and will undoubtedly maintain their high musical standards for generations to come, delighting audiences in music that is rich and beautiful but unfortunately not popular with the young generations. Nevertheless, I respect and will forever love the Berlin Philharmonic
Fantastic, as always!!! I do wonder, does anyone know what type of an oboe the second oboist plays? I play the oboe, yet I've never seen one with such an oddly shaped top joint. It looks like they took the bell of an English Horn, and attached it to the top joint... =p
@CJSweatt , yeah, dupin (roland and ghys, 2 brothers and 2 different companies!) is/are a small manufacturer, but legendary for their impeccable craftsmanship. the imperial comes from roland if my memory serves me right. in europe they are reknowned but in no way were they ever designed with the american market in mind, which explains the popularity....different reeds and all those things...=D

So glad to see that Weber is getting inserted into the concert repertoire!! I think that he's probably one of the most underrated Romantic composers.

@hautboisjj Interesting. I'd never heard of that brand, and they don't seem to be very popular in the U.S. market. Thanks for the reply!

@BerlinPhil I know he's a long-time member of the orchestra as I remember him from many of Karajan's videos.
