Well, Keya - I am kind of eating my words now. This video was done a year ago. I have since learned to really reduce my messaging and it works so far!
I think I like what you said. Maybe a new person should be given the initial 60secs. Did you suggest it at contactsNcoffee since you are part of the core team now? Keep up the good work, Laurie!
So sorry that you felt I was trying to sell you something (re:the comment you left on our channel) - I do apologize I was actually trying to start a dialogue here. I agree with you that 30 seconds isn't time to network but surely it is just an introduction to get people to find out whether a follow up is something they want to do so you can get into networking? That's all I meant!
I love that you are bringing this up but....couldn't disagree more. Just because people do it badly doesn't mean it should be banned - anyone who gives a bad 30 second intro will be worse in 60 seconds. You can't form a relationship in a minute any better than you can in 30 seconds.
This misunderstands what an intro is for i.e. to grab attention. That leads to dialogue, networking, relationship
There's a misunderstanding here - the intro grabs attention so you can get t
Great job Laurie!!! I so agree! I think it's one of the worst things ever invented. I am thinking of starting a networking group here as I haven't found one that I feel good about but I shall not be including this in the group.
Love the new Friday series launch Laurie. I think we can all relate to the dreaded 30 second speech. What I never understood until doing Ann Evanston's Social Networking Coaching Club, was that the 30 second speech is really just a pull statement - a way of attracting others to you in a short amount of time/space. When I started to think about it this way, it helped me get over my fear and actually started being more effective.
