I don't think people understand the concept of "Howard Morris". Appeared in: The Andy Griffith Show, I Dream of Genie, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Voice actor: The Jetsons as "Jet Screamer", The Flintstones, Atom Ant, Mr. Peebles in Magilla Gorilla, Hamburglar ("Robble, robble, robble") in McDonald's 1971 ad campaign, Jughead Jones, Directed: Police Academy, Richie Rich, Bionic Six, Pole Position, Galaxy High, The Snorks,The Mighty Orbots, Rose Petal Place, The Dogfather, Dragon's Lair, out of room
The Twilight Zone had a lot of different actors who were just getting their start, also Larry Hagman and others stared on Sea Hunt. Highway patrol was also an interesting show to watch.
One of the great things about Don Knotts was his ability to also play the straight man when necessary. Besides Ernest T., he was also able to bring out the best in Floyd the barber, Otis the town drunk, and others.
When I was little I used to watch these reruns on nick at night. And the Ernest t episodes always frustrated me. I could not figure out why Andy was always so calm with him. I always wanted Andy to just shoot him. lol
@OnlyTheGrrl yeah when I was younger I hated Ernest T. haha but as I get older I love him cuz I have had friends that reminded me of him and I get the character now.
Whats so great about this show is that the surrounding cast is just as funny as the lead roles. Howard Morris was in only 5 or 6 episodes, but people remember er Earnest T Bass just as much as they remember Barney. The man playing the Army Sergeant was Alan Melvin. He did appear in about 9 episodes of Andy Griffith, as a different character each time. He also played Sam the Butcher on the Brady Bunch and was one of Archie Bunkers friends on All in the Family.
@scoobystu82 He also had a reacuring roll on Gomer Pyle USMC as the Mess Sargent that was Sgt. Carters Rival. He also was the voice of the 60's Sat morn. cartoon show, Magilla Gorilla. And a KaZillion other rolls including an Army budy of Rob Petrie on Dick Van Dyke.

Howard Morris directed lots of TV show too. Including the best off the wall shows ever, in my eyes. Northern Exposure.

@scoobystu82 He was also the voice of Drooper, the mountain lion on the Banana Splits, as well as doing the old Liquid Plumber commercials.

I'm pretty sure it was Allan Melvin who played Sam the Butcher. He also played the bully on the show that Barney was afraid to face.

@lobo81865 Allan Melvin was also a voice actor for Hanna-Barbera.

That was stupid that Ernest was planning to brake the glass and Barney broke it by mistake

Ernest T's problem isnt that he needs a uniform to get a girl, the sad fact is they just simply cant stand him.
