@jonnieos Amen lets be honest back in the day nba players had the fundamentals down! See how easy dream does those moves. Its natural to him because he made moves like that millions of times! It wasn't about flash back then like it is now. Todays NBA player wants to score 30 every night rather than do the simple things that makes champions. Like work on footwork and shot selection! Dream did his work in the paint but he could also kill you from outside because his shot was consistent!
@JMKentnerd3000 I know Shaq was all size and power. Hakeem was graceful! He killed you with his speed and grace! I miss watching him. You never know how great somebody is until they're gone! You don't see centers anymore like Hakeem, Ewing, Morning, and Robinson!
@Minus31 Yeah Hakeem could still get you a double double today!!!! Speed is still there the bulk isn't but when did Hakeem ever use his bulk anyway? He was straight up graceful on the court!
Whoah, I never realized Dwight was that short. But now that Olajuwon is revealing his secrets I can see why he was so unstoppable. The guy has footwork like a cat.
I mean it is obvious Dwight is learning but Hakeem is doing every moves without thinking while Dwight is thinking...it is not engrained into his body yet.
Hakeem is the greatest center of all time along with Shaquille O'Neal and Hakeem is probably the greatest human being in NBA history as well. The man just earns respect.
@xIISuPeRMaN No,I am not crazy.Kareem, Wilt, and Russell are also in the conversation along w/those 2. They all offer different things in different ways. It's all about what you want on your team. Russell is the greatest defensive center in history; Shaq/Kareem are the greatest offensive centers, BUT Hakeem is the greatest two way center in the history of the game. I want most fundamental offensive big and the 2nd greatest defensive bigman on my team. Well, only HAKEEM offers both. Go figure.
it honestly looks like hakeem could come back and still play with his moves, though that just may be me being a fan of literally the best center in NBA history.
today's only all around center is dwight howard, the rest are too offense or defense minded rather than the mold of a great center who plays offense and D. i hope that dwight continues to improve under ewing and hakeem, because he has a really great skill down low and with better non-strength based post moves he's an MVP easily.
@yohohobottleofrum huh?? What skills does Howard have down low? He's a great defender, but his offense is limited to overpowering other guys, and if that doesn't work he gets frustrated.
@1badmonster he has one of the fastest spin moves in the game right now for big men and it's his go to move. his main weakness is his inability to be consistent from the mid range. his athleticism is itself a skill, too. the main reason that hakeem was able to do what he could was his quickness. dwight needs to develop some finesse moves in order to really go ham because i think he has the natural ability to challenge all time greats considering he's an entire package.
you gotta think he's barely 6' 10" and today's average for centers is 7' 2" a few inches like that may seem not that big a deal, but in reality a few inches as a center can mean getting that hook blocked, and putting that hook in.
@basketball4life49 todays average for centers is not 7'2.....its not even 7.....so dwight howard could block it possibly...who else? this is by far the weakest era of centers in the last 40 years
@ash18746 diminishing skills?? Their skills probably increase as a skill is something that it is picked up and refined over time, but physical ability, yes, that diminishes.
looking at this you can just tell how hakeem is on another level. much smoother post game than dwight's, all dwights moves look a little to mechanical.
@Robinqq11 one thing people dont understand. dwight is built, strong and quick, but he is by no means a big center by NBA standards. People might have this misconception because he is often compared to shaq. But shaq is both taller and heavier than dwight.
One of the greatest and most unique centers to ever play the game, passing on his knowledge to the young generation. And Dwight showing his respect to the master. Both having a great time.
THAT'S how it should be!
I wish every player would be like that instead of the majority of bitching media sluts that's going on in today's sissy NBA!
ive never seen dwight actually use these moves hakeem taught him
