No one's probably gonna read this, but I’ll say it anyway cuz I feel at least 1 person will. I'm a young dedicated producer, I know there's a million out there but I feel like my music has a unique individual style.
If you just take a min and give me a chance I'll make you a believer. I would love nothing more than to have a loyal following on youtube. If anyone who reads this could press the "THUMBS UP" others will see it. Just a simple button push will make a huge difference.
@Sykora727 Pretty much all of the instruments I use are either built-in, from one of Apple's Jam Packs or from one of Ben Boldt's instrument packs (link is in the description). Some of them are custom-made by tweaking the settings on existing instruments, adding effects on top of them, etc. I'm not aware of any other good sources of software instruments, though since I upgraded to Logic a while back I haven't really spent much time looking.
Hey I'm totally new to this new garage band system. Are there any tutorials to help me out because I'm trying to add more instruments other than the drums but it isn't working... =) Should the apple site have the tutorial for garage band? thanks
have you ever made this on guitar hero warriors of rock? because i was looking through the songs people made and someone made this exact one :) very good though :D
Ah garageband! This program ruined me during GCSE's haha! I never actually did any real composing, just used the given samples. Some impressive work here dude.
@Lilac354 Hey thanks man, glad you liked it. If you expand the description you'll find links to all the Jam Packs and other instruments that I used, plus a link to the original .band file so you can download it and play around with it.
@MinecraftTutorials21 check out chesterbieber0254's numb remake and garageband tutorial. The name chesterbieber0254 doesn't sound good, but his vids are awesome!
@AuchderPeter Getting all the notes and everything laid out only took me a few hours I think, but it took me another few weeks of intermittent tweaking to actually finish it. I spent most of that time experimenting with different instruments and getting all the track levels right, though.
@chadvader93 No, this is all done with software instruments. I'm assuming you're talking about the built-in guitar amps; otherwise I'm not really sure what you're asking me.
Update for everyone wondering how I did the guitar or synth effects: I created an installer for all the custom instruments I've used so far in my videos (link is in the description). I haven't had time to do a lot of testing so if anyone has any problems you can email at wesm87+gbbugs [at] gmail [dot] com.
I forget exactly what I did to get the sound but it's a modified version of the Rotuma Bells instrument with a distortion effect added to it. I actually get this question a lot so I think I'm going to start adding download links for all the custom instruments I used for a particular song in the video descriptions. I might also write an AppleScript droplet to install them so I don't have to include installation instructions. I should have them up sometime this week if I'm not too busy.
For the main drum track I used the Pop Kit instrument, which comes with GarageBand, but the other two came from one of the Boldt packs. I forget which one they were part of but they're all free to download (there's a link in the description).
Sweet, thank you! I just downloaded all of the Boldt 24 packs and they are great. I recorded a song with my midi keyboard using the sounds from the Boldt 24 pack, I'll post it on my channel in a few minutes, oh and how old are you? because your music is really good. I'm 15 and I play the piano, drums, and guitar. I read one of your comments and you said you played guitar and drums too, that's legit. haha
Some of them. I played the drums for around 4 years before I had to quit due to a bad case of carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist, and I've been playing guitar on and off for the past 5 years or so. Actually I just started getting back into guitar again after not playing for the past 9 months or so (also because of the carpal tunnel). I'd like to record something and post it on here but I don't have an amp so that'll have to wait until I can save up enough to buy one.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! did you use like a real guitar for this or something what im trying to say is did u use any real instruments aside from a midi keyboard?
lol did u like download some rhthm cuz i have a class thats its about making music and some ppl just download the rhythm like froze but i can see that u took pieces and made it ur own nice
It's a custom guitar I made based off of the Mosh Pit guitar in the Rhythm Section Jam Pack (I put a link in the description). If you have GarageBand and the JamPack then you just have to highlight the Mosh Pit guitar, click the pencil icon next the Amp Simulation, click Make Preset and name it something. Then select Sunburst Electric, uncheck Echo and Reverb and set the Amp Simulation to the preset you just made. Save it as a new instrument and it should sound just like the one I used.
Hey thanks everyone for all the comments. I haven't had much free time lately so I haven't had anything worth uploading but I'll see if I can something done in the next week or so (maybe an original song if I ever actually finish it).
now I got Numb - Linkin Park no vocals for my own voice with it
