I'm sure that many of the people that post these piano tutorials do it with all good intentions, but unlike many of the other piano tutorials you don't play it too fast, you don't go off on tangents, and you don't constantly break the rythym with explanations. Now that I learned this I can't stop playing it ... Thanks man, Great job !!!
Great tutorial. I sat down at my local community college piano lab after my German class and played right along after the first chord. I play by ear but it helps to see what's going on. And yes! Happy people do eat cows. :-D
This could have been part of the acoustic (MTV) unplugged version of the song from 1992. That is, if this is played one half-step lower (from C# to C).
It is said the coda was originally written in C#, but during mixing the tape speed of this part of the song increased slightly, resulting in a microtonal pitch between C-C#.
OK I spent a month getting all. The best piano teacher on the internet I've found. Of course it helps to have played 30 years first. Thanks for the excellent lesson, now how about teaching us the unplugged first part to add to this super second half?
Thank you so, so much for adding to my piano life.
...."jimmy was cutting every link between himself and the robbery...but it had nothing to do with me......when they found carbone in the meat truck, he was frozen so stiff it took three days for him to thaw out for the autopsy."
@jeffhrsn ....ok well... I listened to the song... then I went on the piano and found the tune was in C# or close to it. so I played it in C#. we can discuss C or C# and frankly I don't see the point. I already replied months ago to another comment about this. In C is also easier to play, that's fine. I like it better in C#. you might want to send me the music sheet with the chords in C so we make happy all those asking for the chords as well. cheers.
I definately would like to learn to play this song on the piano as well. I can play the piano, but not as good as this, and would love to learn to play this song.
Thanks so much, I was looking for the sheet music but as always, the only place I could find it was on sites where you have to go sign up and trade your own sheet music for it. And by the sound of it, this is superbly accurate. Thanks a million!
Sounds better in this key than what the other videos are showing (I only know the tune from the movie), so I assume it's sped up like other movie music usually is..
Wat u have told is 100cent correct dude....im havn two pinos ..but i dont get the sound of chords dat perfect and now i tuk an acoustic and im gud at chords and now m puttin 'em on piano..Dude will u plzzzz teme how to play piano with two hands cuz in church i play with only 1 hand so...
I'd like to thank you all for the kind words and appreciation. I am very honored. I don't read music that well, I know the chords, both on the piano and guitar. To sickgreg, the only suggestion I feel to give is to learn the guitar chords and then try to transfer them on the piano. Learn to listen the tunes and try them on the piano, without any fear. If you feel that your ears can turn the song you like into something you feel you can play, then go ahead. Cheers!!
Thank you very much for posting this! I've been looking for the sheet music, and I can't find it anywhere, but this will do. It will just take longer to see all the notes you are playing, but THANK YOU! I've wanted to learn this for so long.
I spoze it's all about the position your fingers are in... My right hand is usually picking.... holding a pick. Now.... me, as a pianist, has to realize the right hand chord factor. It's quite full on. I've watched this a few times now. And my right hand isn't trained yet to do those maneuvers.i,e, i use the pinky for the G#, then it doesn't know where to go after that, so i muck it up, and my ring finger forgets to hold the black key. See that's how bad i am, guitar to piano = scale mayhem
any tips for a 27 year old guitarist trying to learn (f''''nin) piano?
dam c#
yes
i uderstand that, just can't get my fingers around it ya know, got keys. got the sound.... just... they all look the same! Suggest practice my scales (again)?
aghhh
nice one though
thanks a million for the 'slow mo' version, helps a lot.
Incredible accuracy! Do you happen to know if the key of the original version is C# minor? I don't know enough music to know whether it is minor or major. This is gorgeous stuff.
Just to reiterate on that......the piano coda was apparently recorded in the key of C major but they sped up the tape while recording so the original key is somewhere between a C major and C# major........but in reality the coda on the album is C# major.
God bless you for your kindness and patience for posting this marvelous video. Youtube is like having a friend come over and giving you free tips. In fact, I have no friends who play piano and I don't want to pay for expensive lessons.

Its unreal hard to take down notes you play after the intro because it's going far too quick through the chorus.
