im trying to decide between one of these an 07 acura tsx, this is much faster but the acura has a nicer interior and just seems to have more of a soul, i dont know what to do!
just wanted to ask you please , i am considering an 2005 accord hybrid and have a few questions about the reliability of this car and the maintenance could you please tell me about since you have experience to advice me?
@catalonia301 The car was reliable and achieved pretty good gas mileage. I only had the car for about 8 months because it was just too slow for me so I can't give you a long term report on the vehicle.
I drove one of these for a couple of years and loved it. Off the line it takes a sec to really hook up, but from a street start or passing it feels like driving a bullet train. Smooth.
I loved the idea of honda making a performance oriented hybrid accord, but when i heard that they were only sold as a 4 door automatic I inmediatly llost interest.
If only honda would have also offered a 2-door version based on the EX with 6 speed manual I would have actually bought one.
Yeah like that would ever happen in this day and age.. Manual in a hybrid nowdays would be a complete no no to automakers... The automatic trannies and their computer systems are getting better MPG then a manual would now.. lol its funny to see this
A coupe would have been nice... if hondas smart the will bring this back into the 2010 model year...

It doesnt have a CVT because it's not a true hybrid. It just has "Integrated Motor Assist" which is just a small electric motor sitting between the engine and tranny thats only used to assist or start the engine. The only fuel saving aspect of this car is that the V6 can de-activate 3 cylinders when cruising.
It is "true hybrid" (I don't know what a 'False' Hybrid is) it's just a mild hybrid. Also, the electric motors aide the gas engine, allowing it to work harder. And finally, the GMT platform hybrids have 4 speed transmissions for the gas engine and a CVT for the electric, and are full hybrids, which means that they can run on battery only.
You knew what I meant: an unconventional hybrid design. Most are full hybrids with CVT's designed for fuel economy, not performance. The electric motor does not "allow the gas engine to work harder," they are separate systems working at the same time. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of more power, so in no way was I knocking this car. The Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra are also mild hybrids as they can not drive on battery alone.
very true, but this setup can yield amazing mileage for the output, my accord hybrid gives me 35-42 mpg on the highway, roughly 700-800 miles on a tank, which is pretty amazing for a vehicle with ~260hp
lmfao, "not bad for a hybrid" well, lets look at the specs
~3200lbs
290hp engine
15hp electric motor(that is at full assist 100% of the time durring FT)
thats a total of 305hp
makes it ~10.5lbs/hp which isnt much for a passenger car
my buddy drives an 05 accord hybrid, its a beast, we raced an rx8, and won, and that wasnt even at FT... its not that its fast for a hybrid, its fast for a FWD mid sized sedan, PERIOD!
Lol... I drove one of these for a couple hours a while back. I was beating the living snot out of it and still averaged 9L/100... You can't argue with that.
Sweet. I have a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It's performance oriented as well though. But the only thing I noticed different in the Accord Hybrid I test drove verses my Highlander is on the Accord you can't accelerate on just the electric motor. But my highlander can. Not sure if thats how its designed or the one I drove was messed up. And it also shifts gears which mine doesnt
lol of course thats great for a v6hybrid! i test drove one and loved it but they wouldnt lease it to me and i couldnt afford to buy it so i bought a 2004 honda accord v6 just as fun but without the hybrids gas mileage...
I love the Accord Hybrid. It's the ONLY hybrid I would consider buying. It's a performance oriented hybrid. It's blazing fast, for a family sedan, and is built extremely well.
I would've gotten an Accord Hybrid if they included them in the new 08 models, because they didn't I got an Altima Hybrid. Its not a bad car for a 4 cylinder.
i have this car. fuckin awesome ride. the torque kicks well. just awesome. thy ybrid engine sometimes has a high pitched whine at some points when accelerating, but it just sounds like a super charger. hah...great car.
What!? Mufflers do not filter anything out except sound via baffles. Catalytic converters are what filter out harmful emissions and the Accord has them per gov't requirements.

It is a mild hybrid, so to say.
Fuel savings come from regenerative braking and using this stored energy to assist the engine and therefore make it burn less fuel.
I miss Honda Accord Hybrid. It was built primarily to be faster than the ordinary V6 Accord while burning less fuel, it was built to perform.
Yet people didn't want that sort of experience and hybrid profile. Highly economy minded versions won.
theannoyingdogpoo 2 years ago 2
Makes you wonder if they badged it and marketed it differently it might've been more successful.
Accord Touring? Accord Absolute? Hm. I miss it nonetheless.

This Pollutes MORE then the 2007 Ford Explorer v6
(fact: it has a higher emissions count, despite a better MPG, its cause the muffler system has a lack of filtering out pollution)
