• OH My GOD! I LOVE YOUR HAIR!! Love THE MOVIE HAIR (where your song is from!!!), LOVE YOUR SHIRT/DRESS/TOWEL?? Whatever... and LOVE YOUR CONFIDENCE! You are BEAUTIFUL! SHINE ON!!!!

  • Your a gorgeous red head. : )

  • Paula,

I would fly you to me in a heartbeat) NYC/Boston) to see it/you..meet you . Yes...I am serious. You may contact me for details. rc0936

    at Yahoo.

    Kind Regards,

    RIC

  • my mom used henna in my hair when i was in elementary regularly and ever since then i've always gotten compliments on how shiney my hair is. thanks mom!

  • Have you used henna recently??

  • What is your recipe?? It looks wonderful :)

  • Thanks so much :) My recipe is to mix apple cider vinegar into the powder until it's the consistency of chocolate frosting. Sometimes I add coffee just for fun, but never making it too watery. My recipe is pretty slapdash. :)

  • That red is sexy as shit! I really want my hair that color... what brand of henna did you do that with? I do henna tattoos and am looking for henna that color

  • I think henna lightened your hair a bit, it did that to mine, too. I got mine at an Indian grocery store, Ahmed brand from Pakistan. I mixed 100 grams of it (the whole package) with 1 Tablespoon olive oil and 2 Tablespoons conditioner and 1 cup of warm water, left it in for 1 hour. It did not dry out my hair, it feels about the same, tho. It also did not relax my curl too much. It actually looks like I put Nice 'n Easy on it, so I'm wondering if it was worth the big, muddy mess.

  • The longer you leave it in for, the more difference there is. Have you tried it since?

  • happy is great :) awesome hair and way cool vid, youre much fun to watch! if you lived here, we'd have to hook up and hang out, get some tea or coffee, help each other with hennaing hair and i could henna your hands in a more decorative manner than hair henna stain ;)

  • Aw, that sounds like a blast!! :)

  • You don't have to add vinegar or lemon juice to henna your hair .. if you are concerned about damage, it would be best to avoid these substances. Black tea or even filtered warm water is just as effective. You can also avoid the orange halo by putting some cold cream or olive oil on your skin to block the henna from the skin. As for the mess of henna in your shower, using a hand held shower head can help you avoid mess and arm fatigue. I am sharing from experience. Nice color result.

  • Thanks :) Yeah, I actually had vaseline on my face, I'm just a messy glopper, I think. After massaging it into 3 feet of hair for 40 minutes, my arms are TIRED, and the vaseline has probably worn off from me hitting it too may times. :) S'okay, it all works out in the end. Interesting about not using vinegar though.. I'll try tea next time!

  • Lovely job,thanks!

I put some henna with a q-tip on my eyebrows for about 15 minutes. I also only leave it on for only 20-30 minutes, it gives a copper highlight on light brown/greying hair instead of a clown orange like I got the first and last time I left it in overnight. I also mix it with black tea instead of water. I have used it for 23 years now. Love the way it thickens hair.

  • you know, I never hennaed my eyebrows! Maybe I should try it next time.. I agree about how long you leave it in.. I sorta LIKE clown red at this age, but I'm sure I won't for much longer. :)

  • if you put vasoline on your skin by hairline the orange comes right off. before you use the dye !!!

  • Actually, I had put on vaseline before I started, but I'm very sloppy. :) Oh well!

  • I love the hair colour !! What ingredients did you mix to get that colour?

  • It was body quality henna powder, vinegar, and a little coffee just because I like the idea of it. :)

  • thats incredible!!

    ur hair red is beautiful!!

how did u manage to do that with just normal sifted henna??

    telll me your secret!

  • No secret, read the other comments here to learn everything! :)

  • is the henna shown on 1:04 just made henna or was it a day old henna?\

and do they have any differences?

  • It was about 12 hours after mixing.

  • And yes, I should have said.. there is a difference. Henna is activated by acid. Once you mix in vinegar or coffee or tea, whatever you use, the henna activates. It can be used for up to 24 hours, but after that it won't work very well. Best trick is to mix and dip a paper in it.. when the paper color is red-brown, it's ready.

  • omg ur hair is gorgouse i love that shade of red its awsome

  • Aw, thank you so much! :)

  • I use to Henna, and I added lemon joice, many people thought the Hanne smelled bad but I LOVED the smell. It reminded me of horse hey :)

  • Yeah, I like the smell too. :) Way better than dye, in any case!

  • I'm trying to grow out my hair. I've recently shaved my head, so it will take a while, but the scant two inches I've grown since I shaved has been treated with henna and already my hair is softer. It feels like suede!

  • who long does it take to grow 15 inches?

and can it turn to brown if u use indigo too?

  • It depends on your genetics.. some people grow hair fast, some slow. I grow three-quarters of an inch a month, approximately. A year and a half to grow a foot. Andyes, you can get brown, even BLACK if you use indigo!

  • 1:00 BROWNIES!

  • Lol but CRAPPY-TASTING brownies! :)

  • your hair looks so beautiful! =) thats the exact shade i dye my hair with harmful chemicals ill definitely try henna !

  • I hope you do/did.. let me know!

  • can someone give me a recipe on how to mix the henna properly? I' ve tried about six times to henna my beared red and no avail. What do I have to do?

  • Your hair is awesome! I just hennaed a layer of my hair last night. I mixed mine with cassia though for a more subtle red/strawberry blond look. I have to make more mix to finish it though so now i look kind of silly XD

  • Post pictures, I'd love to see it! :)

  • Why do you keep mentioning weight loss in this video? It kinda seems like your fishing for comments or attention.

  • That's because I am (was then) active in the YouTube weight loss comms, so my subscribers expected me to talk about our mutual topic, weight loss. That's all. :)

Well, and I had lost quite a bit by then and was liking myself in the mirror more than I used to, lol :)

  • you are so rude!

  • so beauty!

  • Thanks so much!!

  • how long did it take u to grow ur hair so long?? do u think henna helps growth? i know it helps health...i used to do henna n am thinking of going back...bein a firey redhead is fun! lol

  • Only about 4 years.. but my hair grows REALLY fast. The healthier your hair is, the longer it will get (which is different from 'the faster it will grow') -- healthy hair doesn't break as much, so the hairs stay on your head longer, so overall your hair GETS longer. Clear? I hope so! :)

  • You can Apply Vaseline or patroleum Jelly on head and hands b4 applying hanna to stop your fingers and head from going red =)

  • I know, I actually did it, but I must have rubbed it off with my sleeves while I was applying it! Oops! :)

  • i'm thinking of getting red henna. my first hair dye. but, i'll miss my natural colour.

&& you have an amazing sense of homour. xD

  • Aw thanks, I appreciate that! :)

  • I actually have natural red hair. I use henna shampoo and conditioner to keep it all conditioned and shiny. It's so good! :D

  • Lucky!! :) I am mouse brown without my henna. :)

  • you can prevent you face getting orange by putting some greasy stuff on there, like vaseline!

  • I know, I did it but must have rubbed it off without noticing. :)

  • use natural henna, try find a henna tree and cut the papers and then let them dry inside the house in the shade for a week and then smash them and add little water and what ever that works for u and some olive oil and then let it in the fridge for three hours and enjoy ur natural henna,

  • OMG, I do not think I would have that much patience! :)

  • I love your hair color

what is the exact ingredients and what you did to get this RED color including brand name of henna and quantity .. do you mix TEA with it or without TEA

  • ahaha psycho in the shower. nice :) i am going to try to do my hair but i am going to mix it with indigo so it comes out brown.

haha you're funny paula 'suck it in' lol

  • Heheheeh thanks :)

  • I really like the end result, it is especially beautiful out in the sun:) I would really like to dye my hair with henna, because my real hair color is a reddish brown and I want to bring out the red :) I am a little afraid to do it though, because it seems like a lot of work :P

  • It's less work if your hair isn't 3 feet long. :) I say try it once, because once you feel how your hair feels after, you;'ll want to do it every week! :)

  • I love henna I use it all the time!! and I use it for the same reason when you want you hair long and don't want to damage it. My fingernails are orange as we speak! I swear!

  • Hey sistah, that's awesome! :)

  • i buy mine from lush! XD its great stuff!

  • You know, I may try the Lush version someday! I've heard good things about it.

  • beautiful. i wanna try henna when i go back red. where'd you get it? what's the brand?

  • I buy it from mehandi (dot) com.. it's a powder used for body tattoos, not a hair product. It works WAY better than store brands!

  • happy IS good

    that's why i LOVE henna!

  • Sorry to reply so late.. thanks for commenting, fun that we have this in common! :)

  • paula You are beautiful! Your hair turned out such a gorgeous natural looking red. can you please let me know EXACTLY what you did to get this color including brand name of henna that you used and anything you may have added (ie: paprika, vinegar) and the portions used. Thank you

  • I don't have an exact recipe (I don't even when I cook food) but I just add enough vinegar until it's pudding consistency. Sometimes I add up to a cup of coffee, but usually not.. I never see any difference when I do. :) Thank you! Oh, and I buy it from mehandi (dot) com..

  • It turned out great. Your hair looks like cheries!

  • Cherries! I love cherries! Thanks! :)

  • You should use wen. Its a hair clenser that doesnt have any sulfates (detergents) in it.

i loved your final result, too!

    :D

  • I actually am "no poo" -- no shampoo at all. I just use conditioner. It takes longer, but it gets hair just as clean, and there's no sulfates!

  • Hahaha. Thats cute

    "no poo"

    Im picky about my hair

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Aw, too sweet, thanks!

  • lol ur hilarious - your hair came out great :)

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • I haven't re-henna'd my hair for over 6 months and even though my highlights look medium brown indoors, they still show up a gorgeous red outside. I can't wait for my batch of henna to be done so I can get the vibrant red back, but for a translucent dye, it stays a really long time.

  • Isn't henna great? :)

  • It is!

  • lol great song choice!

  • LOL thanks! :) I figured it was the obvious choice. :)

  • you need to vaseline your scalp where you dont want it to go...so there are no orange marks on ur head

  • Excellent point. :) I've put olive oil on my hairline other times I've used henna, but I always end up with some staining no matter what. So, this time I figured, I'll just stay home for two days and it'll be gone by then. :)

  • Awesome color.

  • your video so cute.... you have an excellent personality.. and beautiful hair.

  • Aw, thank you.. I think I was a little crazy at the end, since it was about 2 am by then. :) Thanks for watching!

  • You have amazing hair, congrats :D!!

  • Lovely hair <3

  • I wish my hair will grow as long as your.

Wonderful color and very nice video :)

  • So nice of you! :)

  • Do you think it will works on my african texture hair?

  • yes, henna is great for african hair, leaves it shinier and reduce frizziness. Just note your hair will not turn red if it's very dark, bit you'll achieve red highlights in the sun.

  • wow, your hair is long!!

  • I mix the henna with some coffee mud to make it darker, but my hair always turns brighter again quickly. Do you have some advise for me? I use packages of henna that can give your hair different colors, according to wich package you take. I always take the one that makes your hair auburn, maybe I should try a darker color? But I think it doesn't work on my hair because it's too light. What do you think? Thanks!

  • Well, one thing is that henna DOES dull after a while. Since it's not really a dye but a translucent color, it fades faster than chemical dyes. Still, it's so good for your hair that you can do it a lot more often. I would suggest using a body-art quality henna if you're not already using it.. it tends to last longer and give even more vibrant results. If you really want to go dark, try adding some indigo to the mix! (continued)

  • Check out hennaforhair . com and look at their Mixes page.. it gives some great suggestions. Let me know how it goes, okay? :) Good luck!

  • Use a deep espresso coffe liquid, very thick. You can get them instant (latino). Or use a very good, dark Indian tee and steep it very dark. Add yoghurt to the mix or some kind of protein to make the henna bind better to the hair.

  • Your hair is amazing! I wish I had such long and beautiful hair! I'm coloring my hair with henna for a couple of months now, and I love it! I have dark blonde hair and it is a very "dull" color. I'm glad I changed it to auburn. And I noticed it really fortifies my hair and makes it shiny. The only problem is that it turns out to be less red and more "dull" again after 2 weeks, or even earlier. So then I already have to do it over again!

  • how is your hair so long? my hair is shoulder length and it can never get longer..do you take any hair vitamins?

  • It's mostly genetics.. my hair and nails grow really fast. Sorry, wish I could help!! :(

  • I love the red hair! I dye mine reddish when I have the energy (not today unfortunately and it's long overdue...). Doing it with henna must be exhausting (I just use regular L'Oreal hair dye - this one says it only takes 10 minutes so that'll be good).

  • Real henna is always red by nature, så all other henna (black, brown, blond) has cemichals in it!

  • This is true.. but you can add indigo to a henna mix (or use just indigo) and it gives a brown-to-black color. So you're right, but indigo is a natural way to go darker with henna. Thanks for replying!

  • she looks like Ariel at last..

  • So nice, thanks!

  • part 2:

My hair is very long so this whole process took me forever. It would be discouraging if the color doesn't come out. Its the 2nd time I tried dying it with henna. The first time I mixed too many things in the "red" henna so it never worked. Today I'm trying the brown and I have a feeling it won't work. Plus its all dark-green in my hair; I'm not sure if its suppose to be like that. Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

  • Hi Saxy.. one thing about henna is that it can't LIGHTEN hair. If you hair is already dark you will just get a reddish or brownish tint, maybe too subtle to see. You can bleach your hair a bit first, and then the color will be more noticeable, BUT bleaching your hair is bad for it, of course, which makes using henna sorta pointless. :) You're doing exactly right to test it first! Two things: it DOES stay dark green for a while. Henna oxidizes when it's exposed to air, so it turns dark over time.

  • The second thing: henna loses it's potency over time. You should only leave it in your hair for 3-4 hours at most, because after that it isn't working. And, if you're testing a small bit, all the henna you mixed is also losing potency. I would put it all on now. At worst, you might not see a color change BUT the henna will still condition your hair VERY well. It's tough to henna dark hair and see a color change! :( Sorry about that.. please let me know how it turns out!

  • Part 1:

I used 2 packs of body art Henna (dark brown) and only mixed it with lemon juice. I covered the bowl and left it in the kitchen for 12 hours. Next day I applied it on my hair and also on a few stranded hair from my comb as a 'test' to see what it would look like. I'm leaving the henna in my hair for 8 hrs but I washed out the henna on the stranded hair to see the results and there was no change. I have dark brown (looks black) African hair.

  • I am looking for a mixture of henna and indigo that will make my hair brown, not red or black. I understand a lot has to do with the hair color a person currently has though.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Wow wow wow Lady! Your hair is so beautiful!

  • What a great video! I m a henna head too, and man your hair looked gorgeous! Plus, you are funny!

    Thanks so much!

  • I love your hair! Thanks for sharing. I am a henna user myself and love it.

  • I tried henna, but it didn't make my black hair red. No fair!

  • ps- hennering hair is NOTHING like dying hair with comercial brands! nothing!! its likea health treatment and it is so lush. i love that muddy feeling in my hair its soooooo "earth mamma" enjoy!

  • does it leave your hair silky? and soft?

  • It definitely does!

  • omfg! i think i'm gonna try it!

  • Go for it and good luck.. for people with long hair, henna is awesome, because changing color actually IMPROVES your hair instead of destroying it. Let us know how it goes!

  • i'll try! thanks!

  • women with natural red hair are bette rin bed apparently. so lets get that vibe going and be sexy powerful goddess's" your hair is beautiful. i henned my hair last week looks so cool. i always use mohogany henna i love it so much and guess what!!! im gonna redo it this week and make it extra sexy and red.

and how do you manage it??my hairs only shoulder length and boy was it ever hard to dye...my dad went nuts XD

  • Add indigo to henna.... go to henna * for * hair * .com (remove the spaces and *s)

  • RED is your color!

  • Hey Steph :) Love the hair color! I color my hair about every 4 months, but meybe next time ill try henna. Thanks for the fun vid :)

  • I have stopped using permanent dye on my hair too. Now I just use the wash in stuff so that by the time I come to Hawaii in August I won't be dying it at all. You may not recognise me!

  • Hehehe of course I will! :) Hmm, maybe we should henna you too.... I can get the really dark brown so you can be like GG -- not a single grey hair into her 80s! ;)

  • I spent time last night burning my week of exercise videos to a CD. Tonight I tried to download it into the movie maker program but I can't. The clips were saved as dv. The program can't read it so doesn't see the clips.

I tried to find a way to change the media (mpg) but couldn't.

So what do I do next? Should I try to download again and find a way to change the program when I am saving it?

I would like to get a cord so I could save it directly to my PC.

  • I tried to post a reply here but it won't let me.. check your private messages here instead. Love you!!!

  • I love the red hair!! Reminds me of my high school days, I want to go back to red now! :)

    Looks amazing!

  • Men love redheads, that's for sure! ;)

  • It turned out GREAT! I wanna do it =D

  • I *totally* replied to this last night.. argh, YT! :)

My vote was "dooooo it!" :) It's fun. :)

  • Hehehe I am obsessed with SOTD right now.. I've watched it three times this week. :) Now that's a slice of fried gold! And dogs CAN look up! :)

  • I dye my hair ALL the time. I get so bored with hair color. I LOVE the red. =) J.

  • I used to do it too.. then I stopped cutting it, so I can't use dye. Yay for henna. :D

  • I love your hair. That is very interesting, I can imagine how hard it is. Looking forward to seeing your color in your vids.

  • It's actually a painful arm workout! :)

  • LOL you look GOOD. love the hair,

  • Thanks Stace! Next step, new clothes.. what colors work with red hair? Hehe I have no idea..

  • HOT SEXY REDHEAD! Looking good mama ;)

  • Thank you chicky! Rawr

  • I have not used henna in years :) you look great with red hair darl, how expensive is it over there and how much would you need to do all of your hair? xxx

  • I need 500 grams of powder, which is $30 USD plus shipping, so like $50. But I only do it once a year or so. I really ought to use the clear henna monthly for conditioning, but it's SO much work. :) I'll bet you look awesome with henna-red hair! :)

  • lol ok i might have to see if i can put some in your parcel, it is much cheeper over here, will check with customs :) and you are right about the work it takes hence i moved to the bottle stuff but i chop my hair so i can use chemicals :) xxx

  • Oh, I appreciate that, but please don't put yourself out.. I won't need any for another year now! :)

  • I liked the end the best:)you are spunky and liking how you are looking. I wanted to mention that you looked visibly thinner in the last picture of you the other day in your video about your 8minute day... Take Care,Stacy.

  • Aw, thank you! It's true.. I don't hate looking in the mirror AS MUCH any more. :) And it's fun to moosh bulges around to see what I might look like after more pounds come off, hehe. :)

  • good video steph love the hair. hey hows the first day of the challenge going?

  • Thanks hon! so far the challenge is great, because I haven't had to work out yet. :) After work we'll go do our first walk. I'll take video since it's my weigh in day, and the place we're going is beautiful. Aloha!

  • I was definitely loopy by the end. :) It was going on 2 am or something.. I started it way too late, and forgot how long it takes. You should see my hands today.. sooooo orange. :) Eww. :) ♥

  • You are such a free spirit! I could adopt some of that attitude... send some my way. :) LOVE the hair color, that is gorgeous!! Seriously... that is gorgeous hair!

  • Aw, thanks :) I think the fumes and the late hour had gone to my head by the end... also, there's just something liberating about a new hair color. :) Aloha!

  • hey I just visited the link you had to the side. Pete really lost alot of weight. I liked your website. You need to add a page about how you and pete met, and fell in love, and how he proposed! :-)

  • Oh my, that would be a long story! :) And he never proposed.. we always said we would get married at some point, so one day I just said "get in the car, we're going to the courthouse. I don't care that you just got off work and are tired... get in." hehe

  • I love it! It's also nice to see a fellow henna user.

  • It's funny that more people don;t use it, huh? :) Thanks!

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

hehehe i have like 10 new videos in my inbox but saw a sexy redhead icon and had to click that first! :) Love love love love love it!
