I used to go to a lot of steam-and-gas engine shows here in Wisconsin. It's pretty fascinating to watch all this old stuff in action. One thing is a must, though: WEAR EAR PROTECTION!!! Otherwise in a couple hours you will have the worst headache of your life!

Back in those days, not everyone (mostly farmers) could not afford electricity to power things so they would use one engine to run everything. Basically this engine would be connected to a conveyor system which would run the washing machine, drill press, corn shucker, etc.
