  • Interesting horn lol. I don't think I've heard one of those before.

  • interesting consist here

  • were those comet IIIS

  • shoreliners

  • They're shoreliner 2's

  • Great job,Awesome railfan video.

  • lol look at all the shit on the side of the trax

  • @russell379x lol-- good comment

  • I live on the new cannan branchline in CT and ive only seen GP35's 4 time all in the winter during snowstorms. the first two were for stuck railcars

the others were for line service. I also saw a small tree car freight with two FL9s back to back.

  • Too bad LIRR didn't order ANY GE Genesis Locos....it would've gotten riders like WTF?

Then again, same thing for MNCRR/CDOT not ordering EMD DE/DM30ACs...it would've been nice, but like all locos, they have their share of problems :(

  • The genesis have a great reliabilty, and mean distance between failures. Commuter diesels are punished more than say a freight diesel of the same era because the engine is constantly being throttled and then braking. I'd say they are so far very impressive. The right paint will make anything beautiful. I don't know where you're getting your facts and data on the reliability of these locomotives, but I know first hand that they are so far phenominal performers.

  • The Genesis locomotives have far exceeded the reliability of the FL-9's and F10's. Don't get me wrong, I love the older diesels too, but the genesis engines are amazing locomotives. They'll pull the chrome off a bumper lol. And yes, the genesis died in route and was being towed back when the video was taken.

  • Anything new will (after the bugs are worked out) out perform something 60 years old... But they are ugly, and not nearly as reliable as some other locomotives of approximately the same vintage, or even slightly onlder. Unliss you want to say that they are and its MN's maint. but I doubt that, MN is usually very very good at taking care of things....

  • have to agree. my beloved U34CH's ran from 1970-1992 in New Jersey, and provided superb on time performance.

  • I noticed that on some cars the spacing between the center door and the window is larger than on others. Is tis because there is a bathroom or closet (or both?) there?

  • Yes, there is a handicapped accesible bathroom on the odd numbered cars located in the middle of the car. they tend to be placed every other car in a consist.

  • The horn sounds nice. Yes folks, it's a Leslie S3L, not RS. Maybe it's a holdover from Conrail...

  • Well the only good Genny is a dead Genny. Poor bomb cars - stuck with those fiberglass doorstops for propulsion... Great shot on the GP though....

  • Hmm...I guess that the Genesis became disabled somewhere on the line. You don't usually see GP35's on normal passenger service.

  • Excellent!!
