RGigi86Mustang50===Kpro is just a tune pretty much you clusterfuck..an if ya got kpro ya got a better rsx, but whoever you heard that vtec was built into the car is trippin on some caps an stems hah PEOPLE THESE DAYS ARE DUMB
@lookey123 ok fuck you too then. ur another internet shit talker just like mikehuntisitchy bashing people and talking shit for no reason. and i didnt fucking say vtec was built into the car i asked if it was built into the kpro tune and is it adjustable.
agreed, and the guy changing your oil isnt the guy you want tuning advice from. go to a tuner shop, look for a dyno, if they have one, there prolly the ones who know what there talking about lol
How would mustangguy know? Has he had one of these cars on a dyno and compared switchover RPM's back-to-back? At least in the F2xC world lowering VTEC engagement below the stock 6000 RPM point improves midrange torque. Honda sets the crossover high on purpose so that under most driving conditions the high lobe is never activated for noise, emissions, and efficiency purposes.
And no offense, but automotive "techs" are some of least knowledgeable bunch when it comes to tuning and modifications.
@Questionssm I agree with RGiggi86Mustang50. From what I heard Vtec is only suppose to help the car in higher rpm so that the car doesn't have power loss in higher rpm and plus it retains its powerband through out the rpm range.
no you do not want vtec to kick in as soon as possible. vtec is not a magical boost in power. with vtec you have a small cam profile and a large one. the small one is better for idle-6000ish rpm and the bigger one is better for over 6000. when you engae it too early you lose power cause ur running the large cam profile at low rpm. thats why muscle cars with big cams run like shit at low rpm. also it doesnt matter if your vtec kicks in at 1k rpm or 7k, your peak hp of 228 will still be the same.
You have no idea how it works to be honest. With higher flowing intake and exhaust, throttle body, etc, you want it to open sooner because you now have the amount of airflow to sustain a power gain at a lower vtec engagement. A stock car won't make more power with a lower vtec than about 5500. After you get an intake and a header, you can make power starting as low at 4000 rpms.
Skunk2 70MM exhaust, TSX 65mm throttle body, Skunk2 header and AEM intake, vtec at 3800 rpms.
im actually in my second year for honda pact training so dont tell me i dont know how it works cause i most certainly do. i dont do honda tuning so i dont know how better headers n throttle bodies n shit would make you want to change the vtec point that low. is the vtec point adjustable by the user or built in?
So you say you know something about it, and then you ask me something about it.
No it's not built in, you need to be able to tune the car (new k-series, flashpro, older ones kpro). It's based on the amount of airflow you have. The more you have coming in, the sooner you can put vtec. IT really really flattens your power curve out. Making a good straight line instead of a line with a huge jump up.
@MikeHuntIsItchy fuck u man get a life instead of talking shit over the internet. u internet shit talkers annoy the fuck out of me and everyone else on youtube. and dont tell me what my car can and cant do. u dont own it i do.
@RGiggi86Mustang50 I don't talk shit over the internet, I hardly do that and try to avoid it? My car can do 200mph, I have an 03 RSX Type S, STOCK! Umm, even though you don't own it, you can pretty much already say it doesn't do that lol. Sort of like your 3rd gear 100mph+ pull on your ex civic lol. VTEC built into the car? I don't get it, I mean if you meant does the car come with VTEC stock, yeah it does you're right. KPRO will let you adjust VTEC engagement.
@MikeHuntIsItchy he said caan almost go 100 and thats correct, i shift into 4th in mine at about 95-97 mph. just saying. but yeah no stock rsx does 200mph
The video obviously doesnt support the reason why v tec is dropped at 4k, but it is dropped low for when the car is WOT from a dead stop. 4kvtec in first gear really makes a differnce, then when you shift into 2nd gear your back above 6k rpms. Learn from the facts not from the fools you noob
Look, I don't know much about cars and I'm trying to learn. No nasty messages please, what exactly does the K-pro do.
The reason I ask is I just bought a stock 2002 SiR Honda Civic and I wanna put some money into it. Starting off with exaust and maybe a header, and possibly a cold air intake. Also if I eventually went turbo, would the cold air intake still be of use? These probably seem like really obvious questions but I really have no where else to ask about this kind of stuff.
k-pro is an ecu (electronic computer unit) you can tune your car's engine and all that based on the chip, it won't be a dramatic increase but it'll still be noticeable ... i have k-pro2, hondata reflash, and an HKS chip as well ... as for exhausts go hks ... get hks headers to match, cold air is awesome and it'll definitely still help with the turbo, perfect combo actually ... i have an RSX-R and i love it ... i'll add you as a friend and just send me any questions, i'll be happy to answer!
K-pro allows total control of all aspects of the engine. there for the performance possibilities are only limited by the engine modifications. a stock RSX Type S will only see moderate gains like what was shown in the video.
hey man, go to an online forum that is vehicle specific (i.e. Honda Civic forum), do some research in the tech sections, and people are usually nicer to noobs learning.
@dalailama83 kpro is an upgrade to your ECU and can change alot of the characteristics of your engine tune ie. what rpm vtec engages at, timing fuel ratio etc. Generally when you get Kpro you will need it to be dyno tunned to make it worth your money. and before you tune it you want all your mods on it so the car to be specifically tunned to what it is capable of. And a cold air intake will be of absolute no use if you have a turbo. Your intake will be routed to your intercooler once u turbo.
@dalailama83 oh and another thing if your gonna get hondata kpro you will need a 02-04 acura rsx type s ECU then kpro. you might as well just get a compatible piggy back ecu for your car instead of spending a couple grand since your just starting out. Check out some honda forums theres alot of info. do your research kid
its a 84, i used to drive it allll the time, just for the heck of it and w/e, ive changed the oil a couiple times the coolant and w/e. on the highway i give it all its got they say the top speed is 130 but ive had it faster....but thats how i treat my guitar not so much my car, it needs some work.
i have recently bought a stock '06 Honda Integra TypeS, not '06 Acura Integra TypeS, which revs 500rpm beyond the redline. Everything is stock including ecu. I;ve read somewhere that the Honda Integra TypeS has similar camshafts to the JDM DC5 TypeR.
What car do you drive? When I drive my Acura TL even though it's only Semi-Auto I still hit up the redline everyday and at 77k miles I'm running good as new. But yeah the ENGINE can handle redline no problem at all just specially if it's stock.. the transmission that's a whole other story.
Z0mg it's a porsche and you won't have any fun haha. The way I treat me cars is sometimes I drive it hard yes but I always treat it with premium gas, oil change every 3-3.5k miles with full synthetic and a very nice oil filter. I was the car every Saturday and no one is allowed to eat in it. What year is your car?
no it does not. it gives u the ability to change the vtec crossover point. and stupid newbs like this lower it for no reason. vtec is put where its at for a reason(to make low end torque and high end power) . i think lowering like 500rpms isnt bad ut like 2000rpms lower is ridiculous
really....so when you tune my car and the vtec and cam angles see the diff you will know that as long as you have enough air and fuel its safe and gains more power....my lower is 3500 and high was around 4 or 5 something.....297fwhp 200pnds tq 9psi jrsc....hell the hondata CAI CAL SETS LOWER BOUNDREY AT 4200 OR SO I GUESS THEY DID IT BEC IT DOESNT ADD ANY POWER OR SERV PURPOSE !!
kpro itself wont but yes taking the motor past its limits will cause it to wear faster but for people that do stuff the right way and build there motor to handle the beating no it wont hope that helps you if you already havent found out
Hope you've built the head since then....
