  • I have the legacy puma version and had the same issues you have had until a friend turned me on to cci tactical ar it door 22 conversions on ar 15 and helps the gun cycle 100% better I've shot thousands of rounds through mine with very little failures!

  • your voice makes me want to punch a baby in the face.

  • sexy hat. how much for me to touch your weiner?

  • @hellomynameisnipple You can cop a feel for free, but the hat is going to cost you at least $20... (sarcasm)

Damn, there are some disturbed people in this world... but I guess that's what guns are for.

  • I bought the the Puma version about 3 weeks ago. Ran Ferderals the first time, jambs every 5 or 6 shots. Then the casings started to "STICK" in the chamber. Could not even hand load a round into the chamber it was so tight. Last Wed I shot CCI's through it and no jambs or stuck shells. BUT, as some have said the accuracy was great, mine shot in a 6 to 8 inch diameter both at 15 feet and 25, and was WAY off at 50 feet. Even 7 foot range it was all over the map. Too cheaply made in my view.

  • I have had problems with my Chiappa 1911-22. Kept it clean, Tried all sorts of Ammo. It still failed to feed, failed to eject. Stove pipes were frequent. The clip would not contain the ammo. A little nudge they would come out of clip. How ever when I could get it to function. At 25 to 30 yards it was a straight shooter.

  • nice looking 1911

  • How easy is this gun to mod and what mods are out there

  • BUDS GUN SHOP has them on sale for 199.99, JUST PICKED ONE UP FOR PLINKING

  • @TeamPhenomenon The Puma version.. and mine SUCKS!.. At 15 feet, grouping was as big as 8 inches.

  • Did 100 rounds today without problem, I love This 1911 from chiappa

  • that music is terribly annoying

  • I shot mine this morning and it was jam after jam and it didnt want to load everytime

  • i'm still not comfortable using 22LR as my defensive gun. it's only good for plinking. see how many times you've got failure in feeding it, stove pipes etc. better opt for bigger and more reliable caliber. i've got walther P22 and still not a reliable one. i don't know about this new 22TCM, looks like a good one... i;m quite interested with it...

  • would you recomend it

  • I have the same one as you and I have been looking into upgrading the rear sight to an adjustable one since the front sight is fixed and molded to the slide. Do you know what type or style might work well? Thanks for your input.

  • @pontiacmaniac2 I've been happy with the fixed sights so far. I don't really need anything more than "combat accuracy" since I'm typically shooting steel. From what I understand, it should take more standard 1911 sights so you'll have plenty of options for adjustable replacements. I'd suggest finding a couple you are interested in and checking with the manufacturer or a gunsmith whether or not they will fit the Chiappa.

  • @DangerCL0SE Yep, you were right, they said if the sights will fit a 1911 A1, then they'll fit the Chiappa. I found a great little adjustable sight for decent price to, just in case your interested in getting a liitle bit more out of it. Thay are made from a company called PSI.

  • I just bought one of these and I like it except for the finish. theres already scratches and stuff on the barrel from just working the slide back and forth. I dont know how reliable it is yet until I take it out and shoot it

  • If it were stolen, would you buy another. Or go with something different like a GSG, or Browning???

  • @gtrjoe68 Haha, if it were stolen... that's an interesting way to put it. I wouldn't get another and would likely replace it with the GSG. Everything I've read indicates better reliability and I also like that it is more compatible with a variety of standard 1911 parts.

  • @DangerCL0SE Thanks.

  • @DangerCL0SE hey what about Umarex 1911 .22lr? that any good?

  • @emkplayboy6 I don't have any personal experience with that variant. However, it looks similar to the GSG.

  • How bass the recoil

  • KEY-appa ahaha ^^ nice way to explain in english how to pronunce it :) That's the same with Fiocchi = FIOK + KEY Ah..."Chiappa" in italian means buttock :D

    Greetings from Italy

  • >.< federal jams all the time never use federal ammo!!!

  • does anyone else wanna punch a baby over his background music

  • most 1911's need a break in. they are not a Modern. firearm.

If you don]t like it get a pistol designed for .22 from the ground up.

  • Im jealous. Yours is sex c looking

  • I question the purpose of this video

Did you folllow owners manual break in procedure?....

i.e. Did you clean the gun and swab the bore before shooting it?.

Did you only use Hi-vel ammo for the first 2-300 rounds?.

Did you carefully load the mags?....

Just what "testing" did you do...looks to me like you just shot it.

...and..imo.....referring to ammo as "crap" is unprofessional.

    I own the same gun.

I followed the owners manual instructions..

.... my gun has performed flawlessly...

  • @jbip210 Well, since you are such an expert, you should realize how absurd your statements (and the manufacturer's break-in procedure) are for a modern firearm. Granted, I'm not expecting Glock-like performance from a $250 rimfire handgun, but I do expect it to perform relatively well right out of the box. Some break-in is to be expected, but I'm not going to buy premium ammo just to fulfill that purpose.

P.S. I'm flattered that you signed up for a YouTube account just to comment on my video.

  • whats with the sci fi/ hipster music?

  • I just heard that Chiappa is going to start puting tracking chips in their guns starting in 2012.Idont like this at all.

  • @theDUKE197908 I've read that as well. It appears they are talking about passive RFID as opposed to active GPS tracking. RFID (supposedly) can only be read from a very short distance away. Regardless, I don't think anything of that nature has any place in a firearm and would imagine many pro 2nd amendment folks to boycott any company who introduces such "features".

  • would you recomen this as a first handgun

  • the paint job on the 1911 is actually quite nice

  • Perfect for those nazi groundhogs

  • I have had a 1911-45 by LLAMA, a 1911-9mm by LLAMA and they never jammed.

No matter what caliber 1911 comes in whether it is .22,9mm, super 38,45, or 50 cal, they seem to feel good in your hand.

  • The trigger pull is a work out and the sights are elementary at best. I really do like it. I just wanna it to be more reliable.

  • alright I have had my standard 1911-22 for two days. I like it. The build is a bit rough, but I like it. I want to know how to make it shoot better?sometimes it jams, more so with cheap .22 ammo!

  • It's like a 1970's Arthur C. Clark mysteries mystery series. I think that is where they got the sound track from. Now where are the aliens and pyramids?

  • EWW .22 no thank you lol i like my 1911 .45 the way pistol are meant to be.

  • Is this one of those guns where once it's fired a few hundred rounds will smooth out and function properly or is it just poor quality?

  • @shazdee Seems to be a little bit of both. It's not the greatest quality compared to other comparable options. However, after a couple hundred rounds, it has been functioning much better.

  • oh and it keeps jamming because the hand guns are hella particular about what type of ammunition u use

  • @DrokkBr000 Not all handguns. My Glock will eat just about anything. But yeah, the Chiappa is very particular about what you feed it.

  • @DangerCL0SE sorry i ment the 22 handguns are super particular to ammo because they have a hard time generating enough power to push the slide back and eject the shell but im jealous of ur glock lol

  • @DrokkBr000 What's the best ammo to use with these .22's then??

  • @emkplayboy6 sorry this took so long but in my opinion the best to use for a 22 handgun would have to be CCI mini mags it has high enough load that it ejects the shell better than ur run of the mill ammo and its copper plated rather than led tipped so it keeps the rifling of ur barrel cleaner than it would be otherwise only downside is fewer rounds for more money but its worth the trade off

  • @DrokkBr000 yup! bought 200 rounds of the CCI mini mags, and they shot great! no jams at all :)

  • @emkplayboy6 nice hope i helped...ish and yah if you want to have basically flawless results form it thatn stick with CCI mini mags but after ehhh id say 700 rounds you could slack off and go cheap once or twice but personally im stickin with cci

  • sig sauer is better the chiappa doesnt have the palm safety i have both

  • @DrokkBr000 I like the Sig. If I were to get another .22 semi-auto, it would be that one or the Walther P22.

  • @DangerCL0SE yah i like the walther but if its the one i think it is isnt it frikin tiny lol and i doubt ill get another 22 pistol for a while but if i did id definitely check out ruger

  • @DrokkBr000

Is this Sig the same one I saw at my gun shop? Said ATI on it and seemed to be nothing more than a rebadged GSG 1911.

  • @russypt it has less contact with the hammer when the slide is blown back and it has a solid metal bushing rather than a fuzed one so basically yah its the same lol but with small ass technical shit lol

  • @russypt it pretty much is but the bushing is different and the biggest difference and reason i went with sig is because if u have an issue u deal with sig directly wich is really easy and quick

  • nothing personal, but all the extra gear and spooky music and such just seems silly. I shoot a lot. I don't have a special vest and shooting gloves and the cool shades etc. You can have them if you want, but don't blame folks who look at you and think maybe it's just a little silly. As reviews go, not very informative.

  • Rookie doing silly "guntest. Music is stupid too...thumbs down

  • @BucksOwin Thanks for your unnecessarily negative comment. Please come back when you've had a nice nap and have cleaned the sand out of your vagina.

  • you should cut those loops on your vest meant for a utility belt. :)

  • @turboturtle22 That's not a bad idea. I think I tried them out once when wearing a thigh holster/belt and haven't used them since.

  • It's pronounced: Key-Oppa

  • How is this Chiappa running now? Have you shot it more and got it broken in better? I'm thinking of getting one, but after seeing all the malfunctions of this one, I'm thinking about a different route for a 22 version of the 1911. How about real accuracy, how well does it shoot on paper, off of a rest. Thanks.

  • @VEPR39 Definitely better now. It likes to be clean and well oiled. I still wouldnt buy another one if I was doing it all over again. Accuracy is decent but the sights suck. The rear has to be drifted left/right and the front actually has to be filed down if adjustment is necessary.

  • who the fuck dresses like that for target pratice

  • @lumberassassin Someone who has to hike a half mile each way to get to their range and needs an efficient way to haul multiple guns, magazines, ammo, targets, etc.

  • Can I get this gun in california? Please reply!

  • @ifuhearmyshotimissed Thankfully, I live clear across the country from Commiefornia. I don't even pretend to understand their draconian gun laws. Your best bet would be to consult with a local gun shop regarding the legality of this gun in your state.

  • Does the slide stay open after the last shot? The Kimber 1911 22LR doesn’t stay open. Great video but the miss fires worried me until I read the description. Thanks.

  • @ejlmp Yup. The Chiappa has last shot hold open. So far, that's been about the only feature that has functioned reliably.

  • @ejlmp mod the magazine. then itl hold open on the last rd.

google it. i had to do it on all my ak47 mags

  • omg this is the crappiest music ever, other than that nice vid

  • AMERCA!

  • looks like a huge number of failures here...might just spend a little extra...

  • @photojames1 you have to break it in

  • how much did you get it for

  • @snipermonkey1000 I think it was ~$250

  • It does seem like a nice gun, And as someone already said it doesn't cost your leg. I'm thinking of starting a range shootting hobby and what i've heard the local laws require everyone to start with small calibers. So this thing is definetly going to be in my shopping list.

The only thing that worries me is the fact that the barrel is fixed to the frame, And the rumour says that .22lr caliber pistol's aren't exactly made out of the best metal... So what happens when you've shot 2000 rounds?

  • @headshotjoe My advice, for what it's worth, is to stay away from the Chiappa, especially if it is going to be your first handgun. Spend a little more money and go with something like a Ruger Mark III or the 22/45. You'll still have the fixed barrel but Ruger quality and reliability.

  • I want one of these and the 45 version :D

  • do you recomend this gun, you think is reliable, or it jams a lot cuz seems like it, i dont want to waste money on a 22 that is not worth it so i ask you ?

  • @belzach I'd recommend it to add to a collection, only because it is cheap and fun to shoot. If this is the first handgun you're buying, it may turn you off because of it's lack of consistant reliability. That said, it's great for practicing failure drills :)

  • @DangerCL0SE have you tried the high speed 22 or the stingers. cuz they are more powerfull 22 right, or am I wrong

  • @belzach The only ammo I've put through the Chiappa so far are CCI Minimags and bulk Federal ammo. I haven't tried any of the high velocity stuff yet.

  • @DangerCL0SE if you tried any high velocity ammo can you tell me how it works? cuz if it work well i might get one jajaja thanks

  • ever try changing the grips out? I'd be interested in knowing of they are standard size.

  • @C00Ltuber I've been meaning to but haven't gotten around to it yet. I don't really like the look of the wood grips on the two-tone gun and would prefer some black rubber grips. Everything I've read suggests that it should take standard 1911 grips but may require some filing or trimming for a good fit.

  • i actually like the vest better than the pistol. After watching this video, this firearm would be good if you want to practice Failure to Eject/Feed. Thanks for risking your camera for this video.

  • I always wanted a pistol that did not cost a arm and a leg to buy or shoot .p.s. Federal ammo always jams on my too

  • My dad owned this for awhile. I think they need to go back to the drawing board with this one. The slide had too much play, causing the pin to hit the rim too far out to the edge at times- also, the breech sometimes did not grip the rim tight enough. The alloy is way too soft for a firearm. I decided to reload & cast for my .45, rather than spending the money for a conversion kit. 50 rounds for less than 5 bucks- reloading is where it's at!

  • Does the Grip safety work?

  • @Marine052191 Yes, grip safety and slide release are both functional.

  • a break in of 50-100 rounds? Omg u mean it costs 2 dollars to break it in? How absurd!

  • vaginia

  • is that a 5" barrel?

  • @LoweryWi Yup, just like the full size 1911's

  • where did you ge your vest i want one. i cant seem to find them any where

  • @newfoundlandhunter1 That's a Tac-Force Cross Draw which I picked up on clearance directly from their website. Great quality for the price I paid!

  • i've watched horror movies with less creepy music..

  • aye opposites do attract ? opposing forces?

  • do you angle your steel plates at all for ricochets? or do you just go straight on.

  • @saxmanplaya I've got mine hanging on some cast iron garden hooks so they are straight on. That said, they swing a bit when impacted so it's a similar effect as orienting them at a fixed angle. Most, if not all of the splatter is deflected into the ground just below where the plates hang.

  • see if i lived in america i could do this but no i live in australia...goddamnit

  • @Fooled26 Move to America... problem solved :)

  • just got done doing my own shooting this gun. jammed like crazy. dont recommend this gun

  • are these legal in the uk?

  • I'm thinking about buying this gun. How does it do in the long run?

  • @vc426 I took it out this past weekend without having cleaned it since the last shoot and it was jamming quite a bit and the slide was sticking. I'm normally pretty good about keeping my guns clean but wanted to see how this one would do with a little abuse. I'll have a video out soon showing the "stickage". After that session, I took it apart and gave it a good cleaning which was desperately needed. We'll see how it does next time I take it out!

  • i tried your advice on the CCI ammo, and the 1911-22 gummed up beacuse of the wax coating, that might be the problem for you, not very shure though. so im staying with my remington gold rounds

  • @1998ben98 It's pronounced Chia PET. Chiappa CHEAPA CHEAP A

  • @hangemhigh2000 not relley, it might be cheap, but damn its fun, although i doubt you know anything about it.

  • the manual says to shoot solid bullets during break in and then it can shoot anything after. It also says break in is 250-300 rds so you must not have read it.

  • Comment removed

  • @1998ben98 Yeah, you'd think I would have realized that after 4 years of high school Italian classes :)

I actually didn't realize they were an Italian company until doing some research on them after shooting this vid.

  • how much was this 22????

  • @iiBALISTICii I think I paid around $250

  • you don't need ears for a .22

  • @DrCheeseS57 .22's put out around 145 dB ... 12 Gauge is only about 10 dB higher at 155 dB

I almost always wear ear protection simply to prevent hearing loss over the long term.

  • i just bought one and haven't gotten the chance to shoot it yet. have you done more shooting and how does it perform now?

  • @teddydc2 A couple weeks after I shot this video, I put 100 CCI MiniMags through the Chiappa and it took those much better than the bulk Federal stuff. I want to start using the 1911-22 along with my M&P 15-22 for some .22 run-n-gun drills. Look out for future vids featuring the Chiappa.

  • @DangerCL0SE suscribed! I've been stocking up on mini mags. i'm planning on beaking mines in (200 rounds) with them.

  • @DangerCL0SE Get the Margolin 22lr - never jam

  • I have a Chiappa 1911/ 22 aswell, and have had a few problems with some ammo, but I bought a pack of "Stinger" ammo today and they work really good. Eventhough they're expensive, you should try them out... just for the difference in power!

  • @GeoffSherrah I'll have to try the Stingers and see how they do. I put a box of CCI MiniMags through it and the gun seemed to like those better. I really don't mind the occasional failure, especially with a gun like that which is meant to be a trainer. I actually just bought a brick of Remington cheap stuff so I'm interested to see how that does versus the Federal.

  • oh and another thing..how much did this .22 run you?i carry a full size .45 and a .22 version would be get for training and tests sites :)

  • @18bravoak Well, I guess you know you are buying too many guns when you can't remember what you paid for one you bought only a couple months ago, lol. I wanna say it was around $250. Definitely worth picking up as a trainer for your "real" 1911. Your other option would be to look at conversion slides for your 1911 but some people prefer dedicated guns over conversion kits.

  • Just a crazy thought, I wonder if a standard 1911 barrel bushing fits this? I know the GSG-1911 accepts a majority of standard 1911 parts and accessories and the Chiappa is a little bit of an odd duck in some areas with some funky dimensions. But if a standard barrel bushing would fit (if the outer diameter of the barrel is the same), one could put on one of those nifty compensator bushings just for giggles and have a Punisher-styled 1911 clone for cheap. :-)

  • @darkwriter77 Yeah, I almost wish I had gone with the GSG instead of the Chiappa purely for the accessory factor. I'm a lefty and would love to have an ambidextrous safety. I doubt the Chiappa would accommodate since as you point out, it's a bit of an odd ball. I still need to swap out the grips too but haven't been able to decide which ones to go with.

  • @PaytRawrsVids No problem! Glad you enjoyed and found it helpful.

  • You may have too much (or too little, but most likely too much) extractor tension which causes those problems in feeding and ejecting. May be that it'll fix itself after you fire enough rounds (if it was too tight) or you need to take it to a gunsmith.

See this video on the subject: watch?v=JK0Khqv8l6A

  • @banz112 Interesting. Thanks for the tip! I haven't had a chance to get the Chiappa back out to shoot since I filmed this video. Hopefully, in the near future, I'll have some time to get a brick of ammo through it and see if the problems cease.

  • you shoulda played music from the soundtrack of "predator" for this video!

  • @SpiroHrvoje1989 lol, good call. If it weren't for the fact that I'm at least *trying* to follow copyright rules wherever possible, that would have been a good choice.

  • hey do the grips swap out with other 1911 grips.

  • @theDUKE197908 As far as I can tell, yes. That said, I haven't tried it yet but will definitely post a video if I do.

  • @DangerCL0SE , tou do not have to break guns in.

  • @isamtator That's true for most guns but some require several rounds put through for components to fully set and for the gun to function reliably. The owners manuals of this Chiappa and both my Kel-Tec's specify 100-round break-in periods. In my opinion, every gun should function 100% right out of the box, but unfortunately, that is not always the case.

  • Well, I have bought several brand new rugers, and they did not say they needed to be broke in. How ever, I did buy a brand new savage, savage .22 rifle, It was really stiff, then I shot it 125 times it has gotten loser, the bolt that is.

  • yea im just giving you hell man, but you never know when a threat may be at distance and i know my concealed is a handgun.......ill admit too that the first time shooting long range with the chiappa that the sights were a touch off and i had to lower them some. i like your 1911 though, i have the same model but mine is all black.

  • lol....for being as gun crazy as you seem to be you arent a very good shot at distance.... ;) p.s. it is the federal ammo, i buy federal bulk too and it seems to always stovepipe or fte or ftf but it does well on higher quality ammo....also it may be the plastic clip because i know before i bought metal clips i would load it up and notice some were off to one side in the clip.

  • @fromrussiawiluv You are pretty opinionated for a guy who refers to a magazine as a "clip" ;)

I'll be the first to admit my handgun shooting needs work, especially at distance. That's why I picked up a .22 pistol. There's plenty of opportunity for marksmanship practice when shooting a cheaper caliber.

Besides, distance shooting is what rifles are for...

  • all american 1911 huh? its made in italy and assembled in dayton ohio....i own one as well, great shooting gun if you are worried about ammo prices.

  • @fromrussiawiluv It is all American in spirit :) I'm actually going to be in the market for a "real" 1911 at some point in the coming year. Definitely want to pick up a 100th anniversary edition of some kind.

  • @DangerCL0SE yea i was trying to talk the wife into getting me an actual 1911 but the one i wanted was 1600 dollars and with christmas we just didnt have the extra cash, im happy as hell with the chiappa tho.

  • been looking at this pistol for a while but im torn between it and the Sig Mosquito.

  • @northshorerathunta The two are kind of apples to oranges. Sig typically represents top quality, highly reliable, and top dollar. In the case of the Mosquito, they are typically priced comparable to the 1911-22. However, from an overall quality standpoint, Chiappa is definitely more of a "budget" brand in my opinion, especially when compared to Sig as a whole. Also, if you look at it from the "trainer" standpoint, the Chiappa mimics a 1911 whereas the Sig mimics it's larger-bore cousins.

  • Looks like alot of fun to shoot, thanks for the vid!

  • Way to represent the leftys!!!! where did you get that left handed rig?

  • @Bassman018 It's not easy being a lefty shooter... but occasionally we get lucky. That's a Tac Force left-handed crossdraw which I was lucky enough to pick up on sale for $55. Awesome vest! Especially at the sale price.

  • Nice video! Just so you know, though, Chiappa is pronounced "key-AHH-puh."

  • @TomGionJr Yeah, I figured that out once I realized they are an Italian company. Got 4 years of high school foreign language classes under my belt but its been a while now. Now I just need to break the bad habit of pronouncing it wrong :)

  • I have personally never owned a handgun, and I may get this one in the near future. I can't dump all my money into ammo, however. So does it matter if I pump regular remington rounds from walmart through it?

  • @PoisonMuffinz Many people may tell you otherwise, but "cheap" bulk ammo is fine to use with just about any firearm. Sure, it may jam a lot more frequently than match-grade ammo, but unless you are using your gun for a competition or to defend your life, most malfunctions aren't a major issue. I personally, use the cheapest stuff I can find 99% of the time. The only ammo I spend more money on are the rounds I put in my concealed carry pistol.

  • @reysaint1 Thanks! Glad you enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them!

  • I have always had good results with CCI Minimags. The ammo is just polished and actually looks better than the cheap stuff. Great gun! Cool that it looks and operates like a true 1911. I'm with Dishy I think the failures will go away with time.

  • @SnowLobo95 Good call Lobo. I put a couple packs of Minimags through it after the 100-round break in and reliability was 100%

  • oh btw be VERY careful with the screws for the grips, as they are Euro threads ( not standard US1911 screws or threads) so if u damage the thread or lose a screw, it can be a right pain to find replacements ( i had to get mine from the factory in Italy) other than that the 1911 grips fit. take care

  • @TheDishD Thanks for the heads up! I've got a bit for that kind of screw so getting them off shouldn't be a problem but I'll be sure to be careful about the threads.

  • top vid DC, the chiappa is a very popular handgun here in AussieLand, you will find that after the 100 rnd break in, the FTF and FTE will go, esp if you use anything but fed bulk (it will fire it ok but you will get the odd failure with fed ammo), most use cci mini mag/ rem superX here. top gun top vid, take care bro.

  • @TheDishD Thanks Dishy! I don't envy your Draconian gun laws in Australia but am glad you can get something like the chiappa. I'm well beyond the 100-round break in now and it's functioning much more reliably.
