i would love it for someone to put up a brick wall on the far side where the cyclist are following the crews and see them all crash into that wall near the finish line :)
My varsity eight boat does a 3/4 pop at the end of our races. Though we go 20 strokes reved up then another 20 strokes, 3/4 pop and finish. It gives you the extra stoke and power that why.
what type of erg times would each of these men be doing? for any of the fours, just general area. Because I know the current bowman of one of the coxless fours for new zealand and I was wondering if his erg time was any good compared to others. He's an U23 and he got a 5:59.9 lol just sub-6.
@poretobatido Thanks for that information. As for the guy I was talking about, he became the 5 seat of the NZ men's 8 for this last year's world championships.
hehe, im in a J18 crew, we're all quite young though, we ended up going throigh the last 500 level with 2 other crews, lifted the rate to what was a sprint for us, apparently it was rating 54. at 3/4 slide to give us that extra stroke we needed, ended up winning by a canvas :D
that's stupid. there is no point at all in sprinting if you're going to sprint at 3/4 slide, because the leg drive is what is going to make the boat go faster.
Yeah I think they came of a little too fast from the looks of it. I mean getting out in front at the start is nice but you really can't let that wreck your finish sprint, the finish is where a winning crew will show up and its all dependent on if you have it left 500 meters left.
i know what you mean, my 8 for spring season, would outrow all the crews by 2 seconds in the last 500, Idk how, we just went for it every time. And we were the only team at a 44 lol. Im in high school lol
Yeah we did the same thing at the last 500. Our coach capped our rate at a 38 but said if stroke felt comfortable we could go to a 40, we got to a 44 as well and we were flying. I'm Bow/7 what seat are you?
the stern pair of nz boat have split off into a pair now they will be ones to watch there were beating the NZ olympic bronze medal pair by quite a lot last year at national regattas
That nz crew r gonna take it out at the olympics stroke does a 5:51 erg 3 soes 5:45 2 does 5:56 and bow does 5:49 i recently seen them training on the erg and the guy who sits in 2 seat snapped the handle on the erg during a 30min erg the foot straps ripped off and he flew 5feet back off the erg and fukd himself up bt then he jst gt up and moved to another erg to finish it off wot a legend
Eric murray is in 3 seat he does a 5:45 but James Dallinger has the slowest erg but hes really explosive so he give the boat the kick in the sprint. They tried it with 2 seat going to bow and putting the boat tandem but it went slower so yea.
Oh that's understandable. I really like Italian rigging though but it seams like it would less set if the tandem wasn't perfect technically wise. You have to be careful moving guys around in fours though.
I love the commentary... "This is an amazing performance by the rest of the world!"

@niueanskier that's a bloody good time for an U23. These guys are aroun 5:40/5:50 I think...

@poretobatido most low 5:50's i think, only the erg monkey's of the rowing world get to 5:40's, :P some GB rowers are but not many afaik.

Italy is losing run, by the look of their boat movement, they are collapsing at the finish

Generally erg scores do correlate with rowing strength. I'm surprised the two lowest times aren't the middle pair though.
