  • Why in this vid do you assume that bigger guy ALWAYS wins??

  • Smaller guy should either run, or if you don't have a choice, aim for his eye's, throat, nuts.My personal targets of choice..

  • Knee cap, nutts, and throat its called fighting dirty

  • this could get some1 hurt

  • well that was helpful !! .....

    ....NOT

  • groin kicks strikes to the throat and eye gouges are more effective. another thing. big guy are not that stupid, I am 5'8 and I been attacked guys in the streets by much larger dudes. they like to ambush you with a quick sucker punch, take you to the ground and pound on you. crowed bar, city bus and any area where you cannot move or run is where they like to attack you. many of these guy are not only strong, but very quick and agile as well.

  • no body shots? big guys dont like getting hit in the stomach bro

  • lol these techniques look really ineffective. Something i was taught was that if someone bigger than you throws a hook, you can go to counter with a palm strike to the bicep. That shit hurts like hell ESPECIALLY if they have big biceps

  • he looks like tim allen

  • When I get to the hospital I will tell them that it was your fault

  • It is important to note that wearing an opponent down does not take several minutes. It only takes about 20 seconds! I have actually used this technique. If you strike an opponet's bicep and hamstring, it is very difficult for him to continue fighting. This only takes about 5 seconds. He will continue to throw very slow punches OR lose interest. His slow punches miss and he becomes very tired. You move in for a finishing blow (throat, nose, temple), the fight is over in less than a 1/2minute.

  • why the hell would you strike at his defenses?

  • @User5973 why don't you just fly in there n headbutt him, ain't no street fight that's gonna last long enough for you to "wear him down" homie. maybe if it was a "fair" street fight i'd understand that.

  • actually this is VERY GOOD advice. I have actually been in real fights before (I am only 5'6''), I do have a black belt in Kung Fu, but this works well against much larger opponents provided that your opponent is slower than you are and has inferior muscular endurance (will fatigue sooner). attack the legs, forearms, triceps to wear him down. Once he is fatigued, you can try to land a devistating blow to the temple or throat. I don't know why this has so many dislikes.

  • A Colt works better!

  • Man this is so pathetic and full of shit that im not even gonna bother to point out the tens and tens mistakes this guy is preaching about... Im just gona say that im very dissapointed to see someone teaching this bullshit. And i am very sad for all the people who traing under him this bullshit. Simply sad..... Peace.

  • Agree with the ranges but, hit to the tricep? LMFAO!

  • I am 5'4" and find myself paired up with MUCH larger opponents then myself quite often at my MMA gym. While I certainly agree with Mr. LaPointe's view of keeping a far distance or quickly closing the gap (and therefore not being in range to be a punching bag for your opponent), I would recommend taking the opponent to the ground as quickly as possible if you are the smaller fighter. With a decent amount of BJJ training, I find that fighting from the ground truly is the great equalizer.

  • @primepressure

In a street fight situation, taking the fight to the ground is not a good idea. The opponent will probably have friends that will come and stomp you in the head.

  • @KeithofSpades There is certainly a possibility of him having friends who want to beat you down as well. Not that there is really ever a good reason to get into a streetfight other than self-defense (and even that is only if you can't talk your way out of it), but if you have several guys in your face you ought to try EXTRA hard to get out of that situation. Also, I've grown up with a crowd who were sometimes too eager to let fists fly, and in the fights that I've been drawn into it seems...

  • @KeithofSpades that people want to watch the first two people fight it out to see what happens before they want to jump in. Not ALWAYS the case, but usually. For me, even if there were multiple people after me, I'd still take it to the ground: I feel I could armbar/choke/keylock one person (and have them out of the fight permanently) before taking much damage. Certainly more efficient than me trying to knock someone out while others are trying to punch my head in or tackle me from multiple angles

  • @primepressure

You wouldn't have the time to choke someone out or armbar a person before the other guys have jumped on your head a couple of times. Paul Vunak and Bas Rutten are both very clear with the fact that you never want to end up on the ground in a street fight. If I was to get in a fight, I would finish the fight standing, being prepared on other people jumping on me.

  • @KeithofSpades search "bas effectiveness of jiujitsu". first vid

  • Is this guy high?

  • @Chevygearhead454 Yes you have a good point, If you stay that far back then yes they will, Just in my personal experiance i tend to keep my distance and dodge when he throws and move in after hes finished with jabs and uppercuts. But id just rather not get in grabbing distance with a big guy...

  • You dont not want to get close to a bigger person, They will grab you. Then sit on you...

  • @Vulspire ok if you stay far away then theyll beat the hell out of you and you cant punch back

  • hahah that arm chopping or hitting behind the knuckles is garbage. learn muay thai end of story want to be even sharper incorporate bjj. these self defense videos are for women fighting a rapist.

  • If you ever have to fight a big dude just punch them in the throat then kick them hard as fuck in there shin and knees.

  • problem is burgers float, ill try kfc next time........

  • I fought a huge, fat guy once-stayed out of range moved in quick ,kicked the knees to slow him down even more than his weight did, slipped a couple of his punches, and threw a couple straight rights into his eyes. Bingo!

  • @davetay I had a similar experience. I just chucked a few burgers in a nearby pond and he drowned

  • just keep close and rage him lol... if you cant fight then just run like hell

  • "you shouldn't be fighting someone bigger than you" -Well of course! Yet how come it's always the big bad thugs on steroids and speed, with a aggressive mindset psychological issues, who are trying to pick a fight with me!? I'm not sure this is the way to defend oneself though. It's not really the techniques themselves, but rather the way they are performed that makes me skeptic..

  • "hitting his knuckles"...that's just going to get you beaten up

  • Just pullout your gun and spray

  • If Mr Big is stronger than you, clinching up is also a problem because he can use his superior strength and leverage to muscle you around.

  • @ManicParroT

Clinching up is safer when dealing with someone stronger because you take away their main advantage of being able to hit you harder. Clinching jams up their strikes. This is where knowing some Brazilian Jujitsu can come in handy. BJJ believes in ground fighting partly because things become more neutral on the ground between a weaker person and a stronger person. You just have know how to take advantage of the ground position to end the fight with a submission.

  • @CrowdPleeza Fair enough. I certainly get submitted at BJJ by chaps who're smaller than me, because they were, well quite a lot better than me.

  • sorry not effective..I've fought bigger taller & stronger guys, that will only enrage him and make him more determined to kill you! you should not be teaching self defense!

  • this guy should not be making fighting tip videos if he cant fight for shit

  • lol pretty bad tips there. If a guy is far larger then just get in close grab a leg and take him down. Last thing you wanna do is hit his triceps lol.

  • what an idiot saying not to use body shots. hitting the body causes the head to come down

  • "Let's talk about fighting someone bigger than you. Here, I have someone the same size as me and I'll be half-assing this lesson for you all. And remember to hit here, or here- maybe, or you could kick'em, because body shots don't work for me".

  • dude you look like Rick Ashtley, you couldn't fight worth a fuck

  • i do jujitsu and today we did full contact sparring, one of my 3 fights i was against a bigger, more experience guy, all i could do was defend because i could hardly ever reach him to punch.. and when he swings i just panic to block it, i still caught a good 5 punches to the face that round... anyone have any tips please?

  • @PaulStaffie dude, the same with my jiu jitsu lessons, i weight about 65 kg and i spar against guys that weight about 90 or even 110 kg, i try to defend or use the fact that i am much faster, but i usually get owned.

  • @PaulStaffie Hi Paul. I do Goyu Ryu, and we do full contact sparring all the time, including ground game, but anything hoes, dont have JJitsu rules. By the way I have two very huge partners, one was Mr Spain in 2007, so he´s huge and strong as hell. The only way I find it wise is to break their distance, as they are big they have the advantage and the natural reaction to overcome you from above, so you have to get inside them. get your attacks from the centre and below, they tend to open guard.

  • @PaulStaffie Once inside you have to control your oponent, unbalance him using your legs, and your speed, small people usually are faster. If you dont manage to control from close fighting get the hell out before they grab you. And kick and pundh anywhere.who says that body hits doesnt work? You just have to hit strong enough and in the right place. Hit weak spots that are the same for everyone. The knees, neck, temple. And if you strain their fingers they hurt the same as you and me.

  • Why not just paper cut the big guy and tick him off some more??? Seriously, if someone is coming to hurt you, you have to hurt him BIG to make him think twice about attacking instead of angering the guy with kitten shots to areas where it'll just p1ss him off and be more of a motivation to REALLY HURT you.

  • bigger doesn't mean faster...this are pretty shitty tips...

  • I dont agree with the part about the bigger guy being faster. In my class, the smaller guys are much much faster. They can dance in, throw some strikes, and then get out before you can tag them. Also the ground thing, saying that fighting on the ground neutralizes the size and strength advantage of your opponent. To me, you DONT want to go to the ground with a big guys because he outweighs you and hes most likely stronger than you. A double negative. my two cents worth.

  • Jesus, this guy's so useless as to be dangerous. He should be both flagged and flogged.

  • this guy is a dbag, if a guy is bigger, and i need to defend myself, ill hit that fucker in the throat, idgaf. hell, kickem in the nuts!

  • i went toe to toe with a guy who had maybe 1 1/2 feet on me...that was a mistake. he broke his hand on my head though
