Sunny Day Real Estate and The Fire Theft and Enigk's other stuff is all great, but can be an acquired taste. I've seen Sunny Day Live a couple times, they are awesome, but J.E. has to be on his game vocally. Sunny Day Diary is one of my favorite albums ever, and that is from an era when there was still a lot of good music(bands).
If anything, it sounds like Jeremy is battling a little vocal fatigue, but still a great live performance. Have been hearing Heaven quite a bit on KNRK HD2 and it sounds like he's channeling Shannon Hoon and Freddy Mercury in that one. Good stuff. I definitely need to get their CD and check out more of Jeremy's projects.
i wish they hadn't dropped the ball on this band. i guess jeremy just had a lot goin on with his solo stuff and wanted to stick with that but i think there's a special quality to those guys playin together.

Wtf, he slipped up a little in the beginning but he sings fine. If you don't know Sunny Day, though, it's easy you could just not be accustomed to Enigk's voice. It's very distinctive, but he's is a GREAT singer. "get a new singer," lmao, he's not just the singer, he's a brilliant songwriter too. One of the best.
@PointThree yeah, you can't just get a new singer when he is the creative center of this music. it's not someone else writes this stuff and he's just a singer for hire.
Jeremy Enigk definitely has a love it or hate it kind of singing voice. This particular performance of "Chain" isn't their best, but well, any musician can have an off day. I know I definitely couldn't sing this one either way.

Yeah his vocals are not perfect in this performance, slipped up a little early on but the rest is pretty good.
Yes that is Nate Mendel, Foo's were on temporary hiatus due to Grohl recording and touring with QOTSA.

He used to able to sing but after LP2 he cudnt.
And he new solo stuff is absolutly aweful.
But SDRE have to be one of the best bands ever!

i like it, but the vocals could be better
