The reason conflict & terisum continues in the middle east is because of the 1916 British & French Sykes-Picot agreement.
This Agreement handed over control of Syria, Lebanon & Turkish Cilicia to the French. Palestine, Jordan & areas around the Persian Gulf & Baghdad to the British. While neither France nor Britain actually owned these territories, they were to effectively control them at a governmental & administrative level. Google: Time for a Syria-Israel-Lebanon Peace
