What I hate about this video is the title. She is poking fun at the husband by saying he's "a bad cook", but she's the one that should be embaressed for not cleaning the stove of the grease that was probably built up before hand.
USE BAKING SODA TO PUT OUT THE FIRE>>>>NEVER USE WATER ON A GREASE FIRE AND NEVER MOVE A POT FULL OF BURNING GREASE!!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT OTHERWISE!!
@majestia19 I agree, if it is an oil fire. This was just some fat that boiled over onto the heat element. If some of that water had splashed, it more than likely would have extinguished what was already on fire. No big deal, I was merely saying what I would have done. And, this is the main reason (the other being my electric bill) I use natural gas appliances.
good plan... leave the fire burning your stove, possibly spreading to other nearby things... REMEMBER, fire doesn't have to come into direct contact with other objects to set them on fire!!
That's dangerous! i wouldn't have stood there watching it, things like that can quickly get out of control!! You should always have a good fire blanket in the Kitchen.
Hahaha! Flashbacks! I set a propane stove on fire like that. I finally had to put it out with an extinguisher... Hey, hubby bought me a new stove so it was all good. ;)
I recently replaced the burneres on our electric stove. I was preparing some stuff for stir fry and set a wok on the stove with a little oil in it. after a few minutes of chopping stuff, I turned around and the oil was on fire...it filled the house with smoke. I took the wok outside and hosed it down...lol. No one could brethe in our house for a while.
They were just fine. It was Italian Sausage that kept boiling over. The fat was the first thing to boil over so that's what was burning. They were still sitting in plenty of water.
@majestia19 LOL What the fuk are you boiling italian sausage for anyway!!!! you don't like Iretalian Sausage flavor? Unless its smoked in electricity smoke( burning plastic). MMMMMMMMMM Boiled sausage in melted plastic! DEEEEELicious.
@majestia19 you're bold...but you've probably been cooking longer than I am old...23 yo...not that I'm calling you old...you're just more experienced...I would've freak if I would've seen that
Haha! You should see what I've done to pots in my day. I've filled the whole hosue with smoke, destroyed pots, pots have all but melted on my stove.. I suck lol.

Funny yes... but because of who?
bmg963 4 months ago
@bmg963 The grease actually boiled out of the top of the pot while the brats were cooking. You also assume that I cook more than he does. ;)

firedude201234 1 year ago
Never move a pot when something like this is happening. The best thing you can use is baking soda.
giancarlo1985 1 year ago
I would have at least moved the pot off the burner. If what was in the pot was going to catch fire, it would have.
philip21786 1 year ago
@philip21786 You should not move the pot. You risk spreading the fire or burning another surface.
It quickly burned itself out and no harm done.

you just leave it burning?
idiots!
Put a wet cloth over it!
and whatever you do, don't throw water on it.

They make these nice red things with a sprayer handle on top called fire extinguishers.
SDChick 2 years ago 5
@SDChick
They also ruin anything they spray foam all over. This kind of fire is just going to burn itself out.
SomeGuyFromCrowd 2 years ago
i'm a little concerned that i don't hear a smoke alarm going off, even though the fan's on.
anyways when that happens they say you should call the fire dept. just in case the pot actually catches and starts to spew flames
