Well, if you are saying that Dave never went commercial, you are wrong. Check the documentary about megadeth. He says himself in an interview that Cryptic Writing and Risk was more "Pop". He said they made them because it worked. They sold more. Call that whatever you want, but for me, that's a school's example of going commercial.

How did Dave write their first two albums when he got fired before they cut their first one? He wrote Mechanix (the four horsemen) in which James put new lyric to and Kirk wrote a part in the Metallica version, and he wrote Jump in the Fire, Phantom Lord, and Metal Melitia. He gets credits for those.

The way that it is very noticeable that Mustaine influenced, if not wrote, the guitar work for Metallica's first few albums is the style of playing. the key to be/have a succesfull band is never selling out.If you watch those great bands liker annihilator,exodus,megadeth,..­.they stay just as good or just keep getting better.Just for the simple reason that they never become sellouts.Once a band becomes "accepted" for a maintream audience they only turn out bad like lots of bands like ac/dc or metallica.I'm not trying to say that they suck caus they are good in what they do/did but thats only my opinion on things...
