why is the upcoming stand alone special edition 2-Disc DVD set of this movie not as heavily advertised as this Blu-ray/DVD combo pack?

@maniac989 Because Disney is pushing everyone to buy the Blu-ray. That's why they release it almost two months after for the Diamond Edition's. It's VERY annoying though lol.

Pretty much the only thing I like about this is that it’s on DVD. Maybe I'm weird, but I love the old movie as it is; original line-art, darker coloring, and all. The entire film is full of dramatic contrasts in color and shadow. I've been comparing it with the clips of the remastered version and it just seems like the remastered edition brightens everything and makes the colors more like something out a Barbie movie. In other words, bright and colorful, but lacking depth and vibrancy.

Sorry about the rant. I just wish they would release the original film on DVD for the original art freaks like me.

I really love this trailer! 1:20 where the finale music comes in and Beast says "i love her" acutally gave me chills the first time I saw this- on my top 3 disney movies, stunning stunning work of art, and a travesty that it didn't win best picture!

Beauty and the Beast, that is one hell of a movie. I saw that movie way back in 1991 when I was 7 years old and it's the prototype of a Disney classic.

Its the same trailer on R2. It's been available on all Disney blu-rays since Snow White.

could someone please tell me what the difference is between the platium edition and the diamond? is it a difference in features, picture quality?

also is the the blu-ray version going to have more features than the 2 disc dvd?

well, the diamond editions will be better than the platinum editions mainly because the films featured in this collection will have new restorations. also, the blu-ray discs will have exclusive bonus features that wn't be found on the regular 2-disc DVDs, which is very disappointing.

yeah i usually wait until independent sellers on Amazon to sell the disney classic blu rays at $15 (new) before I buy it but I'm going to get it the first day out because i have been waiting for this plus its my favorite movie of all-time!
