They don't go to real school because their parents dont want them to learn about things like science and evolution. Science is probably the equivalent to Satan in their household! It's good to know that the evolution of the human mind will make their way of life extinct one day!

I don't understand how they can put several kids of different ages and grades at one table and teach them together, I've seen them do it before I think in one of the first thing's they ever did and they had seven-year-old Joy-Anna and up learning about the same thing with sixteen-year-old Josh. How does that work? Obviously it's either going to be to difficult for some or to easy for others.

@DannieNicole Well. Theres things you kindof have to learn in order but far from everything. I think they work in different books for like math and stuff but overall I think that the way you put kids in school based on age is kind of weird. Its not like the kids are on the same page in a class anyway. It is better to teach every kid based on what they know, are interested in, and how easy they get how just that topic works.

They make you think the kids have choices. If th girls could really wear pants I know a couple who would. I read somewhere Joy Anna prefers pants but you nevet see her in them.

I mean sure they say they are aloud and I'm sure if one of them wanted to they would but if you go your entire life dressing a certain way and your parents tell you that's what God wants for you, how can you really think differently? They've been engrained to think a certain way, it's hard to go against what you've always known.

@abouttimeforachange It's a religious family value thing. They were raised to wear skirts for modesty, but I bet if they wanted to badly enough or when they got older, they could wear pants. (Sometimes they do wear pants under skirts for "iffy" activities.) It's probably like how every middle school girl in America wears and North Faces, too. Skirts and curly hair are popular features with the people they socialize with, so they wear them. :)

@abouttimeforachange They're not forbidden to wear pants. They do so because each one has developed a firm belief in modesty. When watching, you will see some of the girls wear snow pants outside, and the older girls who are volunteer firefighters wear the fire suits...can't really fight a fire in a skirt.

@snoopval Well the oldest ones are about the same age as I am and I know who the Beatles are. So does my 16 year old brother, and my 6 year old brother. So age is not a factor in this, their sheltering is. They only listen to Christian music.
