@GoldMusicHits the difference would be that Disney is a safe zone where the dont drink and smoke and do other stuff where in grease they do that stuff
i think high school musical COULD HAVE been on this level but because it had the disney label and they couldnt cuss smoke or make it more realistic and rock n rollish like Grease thats why its so cheesy and hated. Really it has a good plot and idea and could rival grease, but had it not been made by disney, it couldve been a better movie and have a great legacy becaus eit knew how to do sequels right
I had those feelings where out of nowhere, so randomly in the hallway of the school you will just break in to singing and then everyone will just go along with it and do the same dances, lol!
@yogurtlandlover No need to apologize, wasn't trying to be a troll or anything. I just thought I should tell you because it's a mistake you can easily make. You're right though, Hairspray and HSM were quite popular though HSM was more for a group of younger age than Grease and Hairspray ;)
@yogurtlandlover but HSM wasn't nearly as big or as classic as Grease, you can't relate to the characters, you don't feel anything for those people, the songs are bad, the movie will eventually be forgotten, while Grease will continue to be a timeless classic, plus the movie was made to make money for Disney, not for the passion, plus to market teen idols, while in Grease, plus the movie was pretty shallow, in HSM there are preps and jocks, while Grease has all types of social groups.
do you have the whole movie please? if so could u post it up on here- i cant find it anywhere! all the clips take me to a website to do a survey then lose money! i just wanna see grease please!
I would turn the sound up for 'Hopelessly Devoted To You'. I believe Olivia won a Grammy for her vocals on that song. The father of Chris Martin of Coldplay is a huge Olivia fan & Chris arranged a private breakfast for the two of them in Australia during a world tour! His dad always followed the band on tour in the hope of meeting Olivia. Chris made his father's life long dream come true! By the way, if you know anyone who's a huge Coldplay fan, please direct them to my You Tube page!
The best song in Grease was 'Hopelessly Devoted To You'. Then 'Summer Nights'. The rest were shabby! I always cringed with disgust with the ending of the film during childhood, as Sandy changed completely! I would always change the channel near the end of the movie, during TV airings because it was so bad!
When I first watched this movie I was pretty young and I didn't understand a lot of it. As I watched it over the years it was like little puzzle pieces came together and I started understanding each of the characters. Such a classic movie =) I hope people keep watching this instead of pale imitations ;)
I think it's just brilliant that Jeff Conaway actually gave Stockard Channing those hickeys!! Talk about realism lol. I love how she gets all giggly telling the story!! Those two made a smokin' couple in the movie! Kenickie+Rizzo forever <333
@IrishEyes1989 Well guessing your from Ireland, stockard chaning always holidays in ireland - I met her in co. Kerry :)... She s totally dead on too :)
@MsGenesis amen to that! :D Grease is the best musical ever!!!!!! <33 ^_^ and i have to agree with u about Dirty Dancing! that is like 2nd in my book :) HSM is just retarded and mama mia doesnt even compare to Grease!
I really like this movie, one of my all time favorite, great cast, music, dance and costumes.... especially Sandy's last outfit, it is really sexy however I think ONJ was painfully thin in it.... She did not look so thin in the other dresses, but this is really..... auch
Grease is probably the best movie ever made. I know John and Olivia actually sang in the movie. Did the whole cast you see singing actually sing in it?
Grease 2 ia good for what it is, but not even close to the same level as the original. Check out the book that Didi Conn put out, called "Frenchy's Grease Scrapbook" Great stuff
'78 late spring and I took my girlfriend to see Grease right before we graduated from high school. We loved the movie then and love it now. And that girlfriend that I took to see Grease... she's been my wife now for just over 30 years! Our son has watched the movie many times and has heard our "Grease Story" so many times that it's just a part of who we are.
Give 'em hell and make 'em wait, we're the class of '78!!
1978 was 14yrs old seen it six times over the weekend, just sat there till it began again, Went to theatre saw it again, on 30th year anniversy, makes me feel young again.Have the whole movie in my cellphone>mp4, Life is moving too fast. :(
@nanaz96 the people who work for Disney seem to have no idea of what High School life is really about, there isn't a real high school feeling in there, and give kids and teens the wrong idea, while Grease has that, and you're right, HSM will never hold a candle to Grease, the HSM craze should be fully forgotten in a matter of 5 to 10 years, while Grease will continue to stand the test of time.
my faborite movie ever is grease it still lives on! I still think Olivia is gorgeous, and John still has all of his spirit he ever had! Boy, he was smokin hot then! I am doing this play with my acting studio and I am sandy yay! This means so much to me! She was right b/c HSM does not count! greas 4ever
Heh--- did anyone ever notice how the actors (except for Olivia Newton-John, obviously) talked with such heavy New Yawwk accents? Kind of funny for a movie obviously filmed in Southern California.
Doesn't mean anything. How about the fanatasy films like Narnia and Lord of the Rings? They can't go to Narnia or The Shire, can they? Also, I couldn't tell (Cali-girl!), so it was alright.
YEAH! They can this movie corny, but High School Music is C-O-R-N-Y!!! Plus, it was made in my generation!!! That's pretty bad consitering how acting is now...
What! John Travolta can't fit into that jacket anymore! Why do you want to know that! Yes, Jeff Conaway played Kenickie and he was hot but not so much now!!
yeah they did something at the aussi gala and travolta didn't sing on stage with olivia so she did it alone people were upset but they still looked good together
I checked your profile you're in the USA I am in Canada in Mississauga and no the Mississauga Library system does not have it. If they had it they are good though and would transfer it from one Library to another closer to your location but they simply do not have it to do that. I guess it depends on what city/area you are in. But, this is a city and it is not available. :0(
