This was an issue brought up on "Top Chef All Stars" and even Tom Collichio blogged about it (check bravotv.com). I believe most of the cooking videos on YouTube is a personal interpretation of a recipe/dish, and that's what makes it somewhat "original".

Rice porridge is a common Christmas dish here in Finland. Though it's boiled in full-fat milk in the ratio of 2dl of rice and 1l of milk. It's usually served with sugar and cinnamon or with a soup made of raisins and/or other dried fruits. There's often an almond putten into the porridge and the one who gets it to his/her bowl gets to make a wish. :P
