@demonbreed131 They are actually Vantec tornado fans. Don't know if you can still buy them but they were quite loud. They apparently peek at around 70db, that is if you run them at 12v like in a pc... we did 24 volts for more power out of them.
is most easy to make one hovercraft when u not use batteries. This guy is overvolting these fans, look the variable font on background. It's are running at minimum of eighteen volts, with the two coolers at parallel. It's a joke.
@alphaguitar2 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL!!!!!!!!! :DDDD try that with your computer and see how it turns out..... just make sure you have another computer..... the waranty won't save you!!!! :P
as shinny as they are they dont quite have the force you want. Given for the size they are really awesome fans for a pc. Quite but i just wish i could attach a switch to the leds to turn them off.
I actually had to check this out. Its not false advertisement at all. The deltas do make stronger fans but one of the problems is the wattage is all over the place and not at 1.2
I have no clue how your PC fans managed to generate the lift. But my PC fans cannot generate enough amount of lift. Have you tweaked them or something?

@bobbilcon well then you have to see my 6,5'' fan!!! i powered it wile it was on my desk so i can test it.....and it went from the one side of the desk to the other side.... i was like WTF???...it's a bad idea to put your finger in it because it will hurt!!!!
I got two of these. Jesus crist, they make such noise, its impossible without the fan control. But they can chill like hell. Cpu Athlon X2 6000+, Thermalright TRUE Copper idle 20 C, full load test, Crysis 40 C.
Thanks so much! I might be making one over the weekend with a 200mm computer fan for the skirt, and a 120 for the back. I will definitely make a vid and send it to you if I make one. I am gonna try and get a very loose wire (bends easily) so when I use it, the hovercraft isnt getting pushed by the wire, and get a very long wire. I also will try and make it so I can go on the water. My plan is to put the fans in the enclosure with a nice sized vent built to give in air, but protect the fans. :D
well it kinda failed at doing more then 1 turn. It could but i would need the area to turn and since its attached to several cables and air hoses it just failed.
i dont understand. Are you saying to get more powerful fans or i have no clue... The fans on there are the most powerful fans you can buy for a pc (92mm)
Make a base. Something that is light and durable. Make sure it will hold all your fans used for list and movement. Batteries if you want to use those too. Find rubber or thick vinal for the skirt. Lay the body on in the middle of the skirt. Cut the skirt so there is 1-3in of material extra on each side. Attach the skirt to the body then. Make sure you have cut a LARGE hole in the bottom of the skirt to allow air to move out of it. This will create the needed pocket of air to float on. enjoy
It may not be able to transport anything of any real size but its a small size. I don't need to build one that is full size because it was used as a tool for learning. Have you ever had a puzzle. When you completed it what did it give you? Nothing of physical value but the learning experience, That`s what this was for. Just because it dosent transport anything dose not make it worthless.
Hovercrafts make plenty of sense. If you need the ability to go over water but there is some small land obstacles in the way are you gonna try to navigate around in a boat or just hop over it in a hover craft. They are still used in this world. It wasn't built for nothing it was built for a project and to test of the posses of engineering. We started off with drawings then went digital. We then started off with models to test to see if it all works and then moved through making these.
How can this possibly be "gay"? I build robots using plcs and pneumatic systems and you troll youtube telling people that what they do is gay. there is something very wrong with you.
the skirt is used to focus the air under the body of the craft, creating a cushion of air. It dosent cover the entire bottom either. It rolls over for about 1-1/2 inch around the bottom and then the rest is left open. My best suggestion for you would make one that covers the entire thing then slowly cut out a rectangle bigger and bigger till its working well.
your best bet is something that is flexible and durable. Its its rubber it should be fine it just needs to have a large surface area so it can make the skirt. I used a vinal map bag for mine. Worked out great.

Made one with Thermaltake 125mm, they have enough unf for what is needed but the power requirements make it difficult to keep going + weight of the batteries. (4 9v)
you should try getting more up rather than forward, its pretty pointless having forward without steering so its really just adding pointless extra weight.
Is there a specific weight to power ratio in order for a hover craft to work? And does the engine that blows the air underneath has to be in a certain position?
there probably is a ratio. I really don't know what it is. General rule i learned is build lite and get some strong fans. If you can get a turbine kind of engine to push more air under the craft. Something like a hand dryer from bathrooms. Or get a Aerocool Turbine 120mm pc fan, it should do the job. the engine must blow the air into a even position at the middle of the hole in the skirt. This will create a nice cushing of air for it to float on.
thats killer:)

hypnotekk 2 years ago
ok ok, They are called Vantec Tornado fans. They are the 92mm ones
bobbilcon 2 years ago
do you know what a UNIT of measurement is?
m=metre, cm=centimetre,N=Newton etc etc.
what UNIT does cmf represent?
i would have thought a volume flow rate equation would be used, or mass flow rate, but i can't guess what a cmf represents.
so if anyone can read and understands what i am asking, then i would love to know: what does CMF represent?
hypnotekk 2 years ago
It's actually CFM. Cubic feet per minute (in this case, CFM of air blown by the fan).
IHunger4Battle1 2 years ago 4
so it IS a volumetric flow rate.
still haven't joined the rest of the world in using SI units then?
thats why that mars rover, beagle 2 crashed you know, cos some yank useds feet instead of metres.
SI unit of vol flow rate=m^3/s

hmmm I could use one of those, though they are loud

Made one with Thermaltake 125mm, they have enough unf for what is needed but the power requirements make it difficult to keep going + weight of the batteries. (4 9v)

if you have a few pictures of it or a video i would be more then happy to take a look and see where you might be able to get some more umf out of it

you should try getting more up rather than forward, its pretty pointless having forward without steering so its really just adding pointless extra weight.
