I just repaired a hole in the ceiling that was made for a sump pump pipe in the basement. It was a bit more difficult because it was the ceiling, but I got the job done. Thanks

This stuff literally costs under 20 bucks easily, the key thing is to have a long enough scrapper like he has to make it look good

Sorry to hear about your cat, answering your question the tape I'm using is known as drywall paper tape, you may also use mesh tape and the mud that I am using is drywall joint compound.

If you cannot hold the piece of wood with your hand, put a screw in the middle of the wood so you can hold the wood while screwing the wood in to the board
