  • Absolutely wonderful! Great vibrato and emotional intensity put into the playing of this piece.

  • Very intense, one of the most beautiful versions, love his tragic tone here.

  • Ernest Bloch (* 24. Juli 1880 in Genf; † 15.

  • Superb Russian Violin Virtuoso in splendid recording of this Jewish Hebrew Masterpiece

  • @houlamocheleretour That, houlamocheleretour, is the most beautiful comment I've ever read on Youtube:)

  • Such exquisite double-stop intonation. Nobody better!

  • I know the new YouTube rating system is distopic and useless, but I mean, why dislike something like this? If its not your cup of tea, just dont listen, if you think its wasted potential, think again.

  • @GKJusticar55 precisely...

  • Exceptional virtuosity

  • Kogan is the king.

  • I have to correct myself on my previous comment, because I feel I shouldn't participate in the Heifetz vs Kogan feud at all, even if the tenacious vigor of the Heifetz fans can be quite provocative and annoying at times. In an ideal world the word "greatest" wouldn't exist. Still, I feel that Kogan's emotional depth was unparalleled, and nowhere does it show better than in this piece. Listening to Kogan is like listening to the Universe itself.

  • I listened to the Heifetz recording and at first I thought I liked it better, it seemed more dramatic. But then I listened to this again, and I found that I was wrong. Very wrong. I hate those "who was the greatest" feuds, but in the case of Kogan and Heifetz it's so obvious - why won't the crowd just accept it? Marketing, I guess..

  • Excelente...!

  • who's the pianist?

  • It would have made more sense to ask if Bloch was Jewish, he was the composer after all ( he wasn't). But the question is not necessarily meant negatively. When you look at that list, you must admit that Jewish violinists totally rule.

    Wonderfully played, by the way.

  • @florisv59 And this is a Jewish prayer, by the way. Thats why Jewish violinists make best of the best interpretations of this suite.

  • @FakingWindows98 : I was aware of that, but thanks anyway for pointing it out. There are probably still a lot of people about who don't know what a nigun is. I was mistaken about Bloch though, it seems that he was Jewish after all. *Hangs head.*

  • @florisv59 Bloch wasn't Jewish ?! Check your sources - HE WAS !!!

  • @spind : lol, I noticed that later, see my more recent post @FakingWindows98.

  • Yes Kogan was jewish, like Heifetz, Oistrakh, Milstein, Perlman, Glitis, Stern and so on.

    Why this question ?

We don't care about their religion, just appreciate the music man.

  • nigun its from hebrew kogan was jewish??? i think yes

  • lovely! :) deeply moving.

  • Kogan was one of the truly great violinists, right up there with Heifetz, Oistrakh, Rabin, Neveu. etc. He deserves much wider recognition.

  • #1!

  • a real tragic figure, caught between the KGB and Oistrach legend.

  • Thanks for posting--stellar performance!

  • Brilliant playing. Thanks for posting!

  • Kogan deserves more attention. Technically brilliant and truly sensitive.

  • @chillisnake more attention? kogan is a legend! for all violinists i know it is a must to listen kogans interpretations. probably you mean this: it is useless comparing kogan with oistrach, same useless comparing richter with gilels. these russian musicians made a great gift to the world by making outstanding interpretations.

  • un genio del violín y de la interpretación.

Magistral.Lo conocí y era una persona de un carácter difícil.
