Exactly how does he think that God keeps the heart going?

Does God somehow affect the action potential of the nerves? Does he control the pacemaker cells or the vagus nerve? Does he affect the flux of calcium ions to make the muscles contract?

Not once does my physiology textbook mention God in the chapter about the circulatory system. To me the heart seems to function without divine intervention...

I think Joe the next time you encounter someone like that, to further your point that you explain politely to the person, "Look man, we're just here to do giveaways to the homeless, not to preach, if you want to debate, I'm happy to do it at another time and place more appropriate, but you shouldn't be mad at us for helping the needy." I wish I could live there and help you. But I'm homeless, myself, so really shouldn't donate, as my own survival is tenuous. Joe, you guys and gals do great work and I love your attitude during that video. I have a comment/suggestion, though. I'm a person with behavioral health challenges, and have worked closely with same. When a person becomes verbally abusive (calling y'all "stupid,"), it's time to direct attention and energy away from that person. I recommend not feeding it.

@rriverstone1 My experience is that people who behave as he did are looking for an excuse to vent anger, misdirecting it on people around them. He was beginning to escalate, telling you what his great grand daddy would have done to you. Wouldn't take much longer for him to do it to you, himself. He's not really angry at you, but he's looking for an excuse for a fight. I think what you are doing is brave, compassionate and respectful of people's dignity, which is rare in homelessness volunteers.
