Have watched Car Pool, it's been really good so far. Have you tried sending this to the beeb? It would make a great 10pm show for BBC2 and would be cheap as chips to make, but it would be a really great watch. Send them the Jonathan Ross one, and they'll snap it up straight away i'm sure :P Just make sure he doesn't say anything that the Daily Mail might hate :-)

Tesla Time, Ruby Wax... If ever there was a way to explain to non-techies and Luddite petrolheads how the Tesla is a game changer in perception of "green" cars, that clip is it.
A thought though, they reckon hydrogen fuel cells will usurp the battery as the future of powering cars. They emit water / water vapour yes? Has anyone calculated the amount of water vapour that would be emitted by a similar level of car use as we have now? Water vapour is the primary greenhouse "gas"...No?
Common by volume, but ineffective per unit mass. Plus you'd have to ask a scientist whether the extra vapour would actually stay in vapour form.... You could produce tonnes of water vapour without affecting the system, vs producing C02 which would have relatively large impacts.
The thing with H cell cars is the energy used in making the compressed hydrogen. No point in sourcing THAT energy from coal burning power plants etc. Plus... difficult to make it cost effective.
Doesn't water vapour account for the greater part of the "greenhouse effect" with CO2 accounting for less than 1/4 to a half of the "effect". That's at current atmospheric concentrations, so surely replacing CO2 emission with H20 would be quite counter productive... no?
Easily solved though I guess, condenser on the "exhaust" but then roads would permanently wet meaning more run off.
Well we dont have a good estimate for %water vapour, because it varies, at the equator, at the poles, at different altitudes, and over time. But several estimates have it at around 2 - 4% of the atmosphere. So you'd have to add a lot to increase that. Compared to C02, which makes up only 0.0383 of one percent of the atmosphere by volume. So our output could be enough to affect the C02 significantly more than we could affect the % of water vapour in relative terms.
Can't wait! I'm not watching the ones in the Tesla tho, I hate being told I have to go green, It's not ready yet. It would be like you watching Top Gear.
The congestion charge is a charge for driving into Central London during the work week, I think it's about 8 GBP per day. Mayor Bloomberg has considered doing the same for Manhattan.
Its because the congestion tax is really an anti city centre polution tax (or if you are paticularly jaded a "lets tax the living crap out of drivers who have already paid road tax, whilst looking like we're really being eco freindly, tax") To be honest it just moves the problem to the other parts of the city and is just another revenue source for local councils.
Its really good and looks like its gonna be really funny watching more, first reaction I got watching it was I wanted more time on each person... and the Car Pool sting repeated too much and was too long considering it repeated too much. I would rather see a "Car Pool" logo up in the corner to remind me rather than have the stings all the time. You never know this could get taken up by a TV channel. Do you get paid by Tesla to do this. I hope so. ;-)
All very good criticisms and I agree with every one. My only excuse was I did it too fast on zero budget with no help from any professionals. The traditional chat show format is pretty jaded - Car Pool is a nice new twist on a theme. You need to make it the celebrity show to be seen on..maybe by next year you will be driving Madonna and George Clooney.

Question. Did you explain why the Tes has got it's steering wheel on the other side? Is that because it's an import? I didn't know people could legally drive in cars with the wheel opposite the side of the road you drive on. Sorry! I don't really know much about cars. I was just curious.
It's because it's american made (california I 'believe'. they all have left hand drive becaues they drive on the right (steering wheel tends to be on the side closest to on coming traffic). it's not illegal to drive a left hand drive over here but most people prefer Right hand drive. when it's fully released over here they'll probably do a RHD conversion (or possibly built RHD models) depending on what's more economically viable for them. :)
The one thing that may effect it being legal over here is the projected 'image' from the headlight 'dipped' beam... but they should have already thought of that. Also, the speedo has to read MPH over here too, but it's probably electronic and I would imagine is switchable.... I'll shut up now ;)

Basically you've got to pay to drive at peak times in London (I think 7am-8pm in the week, don't know about weekends).
The idea is to cut down on pollution and get people to use public transport.

I hope you get your sound gear sorted, though. It's quite jarring to get all that crackling in there. The content more than makes up for it, though.
