Yeah, these explosions produce a lot of nasty shit, but part of it decays rapidly in a short notice. Another part disperses by the currents, and some of it reacts with ions in water, forming an insoluble precipitate, therefore excluding itself from the food chain. It takes years, but it gets better.

But that's no reason to detonate it. These blasts really fuck up the local ecosystem.
