you can't put the component test screen on with the scanner stream anymore. things aren't tied together like they were before.
They need a mechanic (old school) on their development team and not just the computer app guys to make this work right.
You are "right on" about 10.4 I had it for a week and had it taken out and 10.2 put back. Save some money on this upgrade and don't do it until they get it fixed
yes, do not get the upgrade. you will not be able to print the screen that has the data stream anymore for the customer. You can still graph 16 streams id pids but can only see 6 on the screen at a time. And if you want to see six that are all in one column (left side or right side0 you will only be able to see 3 of them at a time. you can scroll through all the graphs with the stroke of you finger like an app on you phone but i don't like that
yes, 10k is a lot of money. If you are just starting out this could wait. But if you are already established and are looking to upgrade, Verus should be top on your list. I use it every day. Modis sits as a back up. Genisys only gets used for mode 6. Tech 2 for passlock that Snap on doesn't cover.
It takes time to get used to any new technology. But with the USB connected to a hub w/ full size keyboard and USB printer, video out to 24" LCD monitor, Verus is a great investment.
@WarrenAutomotive You do realize the upgrade 10.4 no longer shows 16 paragraph pids but a maximun of 6. If this tool works for you by all means go for it, bottom line everyone has different points of view and preference.
bottom line is that Im trying to help a fellow tech out and advice them to do a research before purchasing this tool. Whether you like it or see it best fits you than thats great...
have you done some research and done the math. If i didnt have a modis I still would not buy this tool because of how expensive it is and no major difference. Snap on scan tools are great no doubt about it. But as your opinion goes.... thats all it is I speak facts.
@maycor1076 I don't believe your so called facts because they are not true. You don't have a verus to back up your views. I do. I have had verus since it first came out. I also have a Modis. I can compare the two side by side. It's worth the upgrade. Don't put down something just because you are too cheap to buy it. Get the real facts.
@WarrenAutomotive Just because I dont own it does not mean I have not used it. There are many scan tools I have used and some companies have offered their scan tools to try it out and see how it does. There are many scan tool I would never buy and verus is just one of them. I think we have different values of what we are looking in a scan tool. I do not put anything down all I said was to do some research. As far as being cheap... Im very much so thats the reason I do research before investing
When I say I want to get the best out of my money I mean it. You already have a modis why would you want to buy a verus? To me that would be the worst investment because all the data is the same. Yes, verus has more features but nothing major. If you add a laptop to your modis you have a Verus. If you want to see 16 data screen at once then I suggest sharpen your diagnostic skills. It''s not good to have many pids at once because data would be slow and not as accurate. You need to reasearch
I have a Tech II, a Genysis with 4.0, Many snap on Brick scanners ( not the graphing one, didn't like that one and gave it back ) a Modis, Vantage, Vantage pro, and the Verus. The Verus is what we use everyday. Being able to do the job of the modis scanner (but with more data stream graphing) and the vantage pro at the same time is unreal. I can size the component window so that i can print screen the scanner info. and the component graph together and give it to the customer. Sells the jobs
@maycor1076 That'd be the way to go if you worked on just one brand of vehicle, like Chevy or Nissan, but for the most part that ain't the way the real world works. Even if you worked in a dealership, you're gonna have to diagnose other brands besides what you sell at some point. I worked at a GM dealership when I bought my Solus Pro and after I got it, I used it to diagnose GM stuff more than I used the OEM tool because it has almost the functionality of the OEM tool as well as the other brands
@dmorley100 I speak experience and real world. Im giving you an advice which is do more research...... I know we work on different brands. Do the math and compare prices. This item costs about $10,000 with accesories. Do you know how much oem scan toll cost?? I tell you this because I have many oem scan tool and generic scan tools. You can get honda mcvi, ford ids, GM techII, Toyota techstream, Volkswagon/audi Vag com for about the same price and these are oem factory or you can choose.
@maycor1076 As a matter of fact, yes I do know how much an OEM scan tool costs, which is why I want this one. If you got all those OEM scan tools it sounds like you got a lot more money than most of us out here that work on cars, I work at an independant shop right now so I see everything. I'm sorry, but I can't see spending 3,000-4,000 bucks on a scan tool that only works on one brand of vehicle. Gettin one off EBAY I'm leary as hell of cause you don't know if it has working problems or not.
@dmorley100 I guess you do not understand what im trying to explain to you. You can buy all the oem scan tools that i mention for the same price of the VERUS. Im telling you this because i have many shops owners tell me they would rather buy multiple oem scan tool. Good luck
@maycor1076: multi make scanner. 4 channel lab scope with ignition scope capability. Component test in a window with the scanner going in another at the same time. If you have Snap on shop key ( online info ) can access Shop Key tied to code menu. Snap on's trouble shooter. Use the amp probe for graphing current ramping. Pressure transducers to graph pressures. inductive adapters to look at COP firing patterns. Can you tell me which OE scan tools can do all that?
@WarrenAutomotive Not a single oem can do what you ask... although some do come with scopes capability. Why are you comparing oem to aftermarket? Do you actually think Verus can provide more information than any oem scan tool? This is not whether the verus is better than oem scan but rather pricing. Do some research and see what you come up with. I own a modis and its a wonderful tool but nowadays I barely use it. If you are looking for lab scopes there are pc based that are better and cheaper
@maycor1076 how many oem scan tools do you have? Ford, Chrysler? I have a modis too. I don't use it that much anymore. Mostly for back up or if i need to work on more that one car at a time. For $10K verus pays for itself. Like i said before, with the component test and the scanner going at the same time you can check scanner values against actual values. If you work on limited makes sure you could get by without it
@WarrenAutomotive to be able to print out tests, 16 scan data graphs, Shop key information and trouble shooter info and give it to your customer is a great selling tool and it creates trust with the customer because you can explain what you have to go through to justify you costs
@WarrenAutomotive What you have said it is very true and those new features is not worth buying Verus, just because you have shopkey access and look at pids along lab scope at the same time to me does not justify 10,000. I can have shopkey and alldata in a laptop and still have the modis. Also, if you think it saves time which it does but It also depends in your diagnostics skills. By the way you can also print with the modis when using shopstream. Basically, i can do the same with the modis.
@WarrenAutomotive I have more oem scan tools than what you mention but thats not the point here. Snap on scan tools are good but too expensive in my opinion and when comparing to oem scan tools you have 3-4 oem scan tools to a single VERUS. I have used almost every snap on scan tool if not all and the one the made the most improvement was the Modis to me best aftermarket scan too for Domestic. I dont know about you but when I spend $10,000 i want to get the most out of my money.
@maycor1076 but that's what we are talking about. I work on Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki, Isuzu, Geo, VW, Volvo and BMW vehicles. What would you suggest I buy? I do engine diagnostics, ABS, SRS, TPMS, trans diag. What would compare in value to the Verus? Just the snap on trouble shooter alone would be a better investment that just 4 OE scanners that don't give you any hints on what may set or affect a code
@WarrenAutomotive Add the shop key online information tied right into the bluetooth internet connection in the verus and you can scan, trouble shoot and check TSB's right there in the driver's seat. Modis won't do 16 data screens at once. won't let you go online. won't let you have the scanner on and compare it to component data at the same time. How much cheaper is the Modis that the Verus? If you are worried about 10k vs 7K+ why not just get a scan reader
I did get the upgrade for the Modis though

Have you done any research on this product besides what this video shows. I would strongly suggest you look into purchasing a oem factoy scan tool.
