Dwight Eisenhower famously said that appointing Brennan and Warren were his two biggest mistakes in office. So there's some history of judges not behaving as predicted and specifically Republican appointees being more liberal than expected.

For me it is no surprise on the issue regarding the biases of fox, however what is a surprise is on the basis of an appeal towards the fact, that sotomayor being a latina woman is a factor that astonishes people more than her judicial track record. But one thing about Sotomayor is true in the long history of the US Supreme court, she is one of those few exceptions who acknowledges subconcious racial biases and has made that issue more open to debates.

I would say most Fox viewers are indeed quite educated and able to think for themselves. I'll agree most reporters would have mentioned who appointed Sotomayor. But its not the most telling piece of information. Souter himself was appointed by Reagan. Dwight Eisenhower famously said that appointing Brennan and Warren were his two biggest mistakes in office. So there's some history of judges not behaving as predicted and specifically Republican appointees being more liberal than expected.

For me it is no surprise on the issue regarding the biases of fox, however what is a surprise is on the basis of an appeal towards the fact, that sotomayor being a latina woman is a factor that astonishes people more than her judicial track record. But one thing about Sotomayor is true in the long history of the US Supreme court, she is one of those few exceptions who acknowledges subconcious racial biases and has made that issue more open to debates.

What type of critical information are we talking about? If so I would'nt be surprised. I think all networks like to put their own spin on things. Btw I don't watch just Fox, I read and watch many different things. I really don't believe extremism is a good thing no matter what side you're on but I'm not a big fan of political correctness or the lack of a sense of humor that is so common in people these days.
