I remember seeing them with P-Funk in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre around same time. Watching this video gave me the same chills and excitement when Bootsy played with his back to the crowd. When he turned I nearly fell out my seat!
I recall seeing Bootsy & P-Funk at the Fox in ATL. Evander Holyfield was a few seats from us.
Bootsy did this same intro playing to the band with his back to the crowd and we were going nuts! When he finally turned with that 1000 watt smile playing it was OVER! And this was the intro.
He blew aspeaker, smiled again and then went out into the crowd touching everybody. He closed and we were tore up. THEN P-Funk came on...
Hey this really looks like it is from a DVD. I don't care how I gets it I just gots to gets it (bay=bee). Is anyone seeing my note able to clue me on how to buy the dvd that this clip is from?
I love this. This takes us back to a time where funk wasn't about ultra-fast slap bass lines, but actually getting the deepest groove you could. A time where slap wasn't used to get popular or to look cool; it was a way of playing. Bootsy is the king of funk groove!
i believe it might be the pedal he developed called bass ball, i pretty sure it was because i'ved jam with starships bass player and he had a bass balls pedal that had that distinct sound
You'll NEVER see a modern day like this again...EVER !!

I'm countin 3 sets of split coils,
that's pretty insane, why do you even need that many?
kainbass 4 years ago
each pickup tames the funk.
if boosty played a bass with a single pickup the sheer amount of funk could cause the stage to explode.
