Who's the one, who doesn't like that? There is only one thing you needn't agree - some noises from computer, but Blechacz is awesome, Barcarolle is awesome, Chopin was the very best one...
I didn't know that my favourite pianist played my favourist piece of my favourite composer. Truly great. I have a lot of fun playing this, so i'm sure he had it too!
I recently saw him perform in New York at the Metropolitan Museum. His Chopin was outstanding. You'd sit there and think to yourself, this is just right. Best of luck to him!
wszyscy mówią , że Polonez, a ja uważam ,że to jest najwspanialsze wykonanie konkursowe z 2005 . Pokazuje jak cudownie Rafał interpretuje utwory Chopina .
@WayneYLeigh, it all depends on what version you heard the first time. If you heard the slow one first, you'll think the fast ones are too fast and so on. If you heard the fast one like I did, I'll think the slow ones are too slow. This is just right.
I am glad to find someone who's pinky is not folding in when it's in the air. I have egonized about my fingers...I guess i should not worry about them.
He could be the son of Horowitz, or his Protege. Both are brilliant pianists. The ear, the mind, the heart and soul tell me so.Chopin up there with The Best.
I think Dang Thai Son played the first theme more songfully but overall, Blechaz's is the best performance we have on youtube because of the contrast it manages to express, especially at the climax just before the ending. I love his facial expression too :)
Yeah, I love his facial expressions too. He looks like he's about to blow his load all over the keyboard. i don't know what facial expressions have to do with playing an instrument but I guess some people find that erotic.Whatever tickles your pickle.
Dynamics and phrasing is what is missing in many of the current generation of classical music performers. Rafal's playing reminds me slightly of Horowitz and Murray.
I think fidelity to the composer's marks is what is generally most lacking in today's performers. though I do believe that your argument is valid, as this generation strives for 'loud and fast' (-.-)
Fine performance. Could be a bit more intimate sounding throughout, but great control of the mood and sound here. One thing I don't agree with in ANY performance, which almost everyone seems to do is this; the solo LH 8th notes just before the theme enters are never played straight. This tends to ruin the magic of the RH theme when it does enter. It has to just float in over the LH. Just my opinion and taste.

hence one of the major characteristics of Chopin's Barcarolle is the time signature -- 12/8 instead of the typical 6/8 ?

I believe Rafal Blechacz plays so close to Chopin..the light touches..almost fragile touch of Chopin's playing...wonderful~
